Posts: 57 (26/03/08 12:15) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Hi to all I am looking for some advice and help from you lads ,I live in Lincs and am looking to fish the Ouse next season and don't know where to start regarding where to fish for Barbel and a caravan site by the river , I all so like fishing at night if I can , So any information would be gratefully received . I have fished the river Teme for the past 3 years now for Barbel and Grayling and have enjoyed my time there with good results but with the increase in petrol prices it is getting a bit to much , but if anyone wants any info on some half decent Barbel and Grayling fishing on the Teme just let me know and I will only be to happy to help. As far as the Ouse goes there are numerous palces where you can get easy access by purchasing a local club ticket. If you were to join Vauxhall, Shefford, Letchworth or many of the Northampton or even Ampthill club there is plenty of water to keep you occupied. There are caravan sites from Milton keynes down to Huntingdon all along the river or within 10 minutes drive of most of the fishing, even at Radwell which is on the Vauxhall ticket, and probably one of the best known venues. The fishing is not easy anywhere on the Ouse despite what some may say or think, reading back through these posts here will give you an idea of the time people spend and the results they get - there are some very good anglers who frequent these pages who know what they are doing, and they all know what it is like to blank! My advice would probably be to start with an area where there are numbers of fish present like Radwell or Sharnbrook, both available through the Vauxhall Angling Club and see how you go from there. There is a caravan park at Sharnbrook too. Good luck if you decide to do it, I hope you enjoy it as much as many of us do, but be patient, be observant and most of all, have fun!

Posts: 87 (19/04/08 15:07) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Just got back from walking the River Ouse, i couldnt resist it any longer,just had to go for a walk along the river and check out some of my favouite swims and stretches.The river is well down in levels and starting to fine down in colour,i could easily see the streamer weed starting to come through,its not clear enough to see the gravel bars yet but it wont be long unless we get more rain.I didnt see any fish,but to be honest i didnt expect to see any at this time of the year. The weather 'north' of bedford for those traveling to view or have a look at the river ,it has been %*#% over the last few weeks,cold night,cold winds,and no real warmth to the sun.The walk has got me going about pre-season baiting and what bait to use is coming season.....shall i change or stick with what i used last year... Probably experiment with something slightly different.Anyway less about my 'ramblings'. Enjoy the break although the anticipation about the season getting near increases...Off the check my gear,give it another clean,see what i need from my local tackle shop. Adam

Gona be coming down on the Avon this coming season to try for one of those 25lb ers, will pm you nearer the time and perhaps we can meet up.

I have relatives in Milton Keynes and plan to pop up for a few sessions throughoout the season. If you can't tell exactly just give me a general area to look at as I am a superb spotter of fish (especially really big ones). Is it true they go to over 25lbs? noddy, you're wasting your time on the Avon mate! They aint no bigger than 17lb in there! I witnessed a '17' a few years back but been told to keep it quiet. I think that was the biggest fish in there as I walk all the stretches and have not seen one bigger. The biggest I have spotted in the water is 16-07. Barry

I have done me homework on this Dewick guy and he is the man. Sorry to intrude on you Ouse guys, I just happened to spot Dewick posting on here. Where did you see the '17' Barry, pm me if it's top secret. If it's big ouse barbel your after then the top rod is a guy called Crickwhisker, i'm sure he will look in and help out. Be lucky

I knew Dicky Walker had seen a few heffers but I thought they were all stuffed and mounted on his chums walls. I did hear Dicky was a terrible prankster. Did he have any big barbel from the Ouse? The grapevine tells that the biggest has not yet been caught! What is the biggest in the Ouse? I think if it has produced barbel to 21lbs the biggest must be 25lbs at least, you can't have caught them all you know Anyway, I have been reliably told in confidence that the place to fish in Milton Keynes is behind McDonalds. All the waste is tipped in the river when the light goes down and there are 25lb barbel lined up waiting for a Mac Attack Fix. I will PM you noddy about the secret 17lb'er from the Avon. I think there were only a hand full of people that knew about it, caught as part of a large brace but I can't say how big the other one was Barry

Mainly small fish but two of the groups did contain bigger fish. I have never seen barbel spawning but these looked as though they were getting ready. The smaller fish chasing the bigger one all over the place and constantly by her flanks. These were on gravel shallows. The other group I mentioned had two bigger fish in it much bigger than the one in the first group !! Saw a large barbel on one of the more popular stretches and two enormous chub. Roll on the 16th

I've been out a few times over the last few weeks. I've seen alot of fish getting ready to do the business, mostly males, waiting for the gentler sex. Also the water levels are normal for the time of year, with good flow. (the levels in May of last year were frightenly low, and then we had a drop of rain) The streamer beds are back and looking lush too.
