Hi All
Walked Eardiston today. A few inches up, with slight/sl-mod colour, visibility ~2ft max. Although lack of water clarity negated spotting actual barbel, I did notice a couple of silt plumes in areas where spawning usually takes place.. so there may well be one or two of 'em at it. |

Had a walk along the lower Teme yesterday evening....
....water fining down lovely and saw a couple of Barbel on the spawning beds, chasing and kicking up silt
As I look from my office window now though, it's raining again

I would say a LONG landing net handle and 10-12lb mainline. |

strikerbw,
travel light and keep on the move. SO, if you can get away with out one, leave the chair at home. Sit on your unhooking mat/bait bucket. One rod, rod rest, net. A few leads, hooks, swivels etc. One of the most useful things I take with me is a machete (mine is actually a sugar beet topper), ideal for opening up the banks, but do it sympathetically. You only need to be able to sneak in and lower a bait. You dont need 20 square foot to cast from. Also if your fishing the more "popular" sections, keep your freebies to a minimum. You just dont know how much has been fed in the hours/days before. Steve |
