My only disappointment was that when I went to vote, i couldn't find anyone to place my cross next to, so I just handed in a blank voting slip!

What wonderful news it was this morning to hear of the pasting that New Labour have received in the council elections. Maybe this poxy government will now
start to listen to the people, but I won't hold my breath on that. The final nail in the coffin is due later, and although I am not a conservative in any
way, I truly hope that Boris wins in London against red Ken, fingers are crossed.

Well, it looks like you got what you wished for Ray, though why you would want to inflict such a blithering idiot on the people of London Town is beyond me!
I think, and always have, that he is only in prominent politics because his college background suited his constituency, and simply his comedic value. I live in London and see Ken Livingstone on the news almost every night. I doubt whether you have ever known a politician with the honesty and integrity of Ken, and can only live in fearful hope of what Boris Johnson's term in office will bring.

I happen to think Ken did a very good job but time for a change. Londoners have a sense of humour - but they ain't fools. One thing Boris is
definitly not Damien, is an idiot.

C'mon, be serious! He's the Tory Party jester.
He got great laughs as the guest host on Have I Got News For You, but a serious politician? I think come closer to 2012 he will feel that both himself and the Tory Party have gotten him in deep trouble. I think Ken had a good handle on the Olympics and felt confident that he would do a great job for London. Again, I fear for what Boris will do to London. Who knows maybe years down the line I will have to eat humble pie. Regards, Damian

Clearly he's not stupid. But if lack of stupidity were the only qualification one needed to be mayor I should think my six year old son would do a better
job than him.
Hope I am proved wrong, but in looking at today's bbc news website, seeing Boris's acceptance speech and comparing it to Ken's defeat speech - well, it told a tale of men of vastly different calibre, experience, skill and aptitude. Boris seems nothing more than a gentleman amateur - and he has warmed the hearts of our celebrity obsessed citizens. But he is a third rate public servant I reckon. I'm sure he'd be great company for dinner. And sadly, that has become the yardstick for success in this blighted isle. Likeability. Yuk. |

I think it's great Boris won. We now have a high profile reminder of why 95% of us should never vote Tory. Feel much the same way about my M.P.
Bunter Soames. I have tried to do the right thing and respect my betters, but I don't really think they are any better than me, just more privileged. |

I never thought I would hear the words honesty and integrity used about Ken Livingstone. This is the man who has been funneling millions of pounds of our council tax to his crony Lee Jasper, admitted on national TV that he lied about the true cost of the olimpics, and created TFL which has over 100 employees earning over £100,000p.a. and does almost nothing except oppose much needed road improvement schemes eg the north circular. I could carry on but I'm in a state of shock. |
