Posts: 1 (29/04/08 13:43) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None Hi, Been getting into my river fishing with a fair bit of chubbing and roach fishing but looking to have a good bash at a few barbel. From what i have heard and read I would love a go at catching one or two! Anyway with living in Suffolk there aint really any barbel close by.... Im wondering if anyone can give me a few pointers. I dont mind traveling for a day session or maybe a couple of days with the night in between. Ive had a bit of a search of the web and my options seem to be the Ouse or Lea as the Suffolk Stour appears to be low stocked? Not to bothered about size just yet, but somewhere i could maybe catch would be good to start the learning process! Any ideas for stretches/clubs to try would be great. Thanks James

Posts: 299 (29/04/08 19:16) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Have a look at the Veralum Club they have stretches of the Ouse, Lea and the Ivel or Vauxhall Angling they also have the Ouse and Ivel. I was lucky in that the productive stretches of Wensum were not quite tied up at that point and there are a few areas now still worth looking at but honestly if you really want a go at barbel you could do worse than the Ouse. Where in Suffolk are you ? Reason I ask is that I used to live within stone's throw of the Ouse and my parents still live in Suffolk so have a rough idea how long the trip will take. Cheers Andy

I live in Bury St Edmunds, so the right side of suffolk for the Ouse! Done and do a lot of fishing around the St ives area so used to a bit of traveling. Would be interested in The Ouse definatly, could you recomend a club/stretch to try? Think I have seen that some of the stretches around Sandy may contain a few, and thats only about 40-50mins from Bury. May be wrong though?! Thanks again.

It should take you an hour and a half to three quarters for you to get there. My folks live over by Orford and I used to live just north of Bedford Cheers Andy

Posts: 90 (02/05/08 21:54) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	i live in suffolk just outside ipswich , i do fish the ouse , fished vauxhall , milton keynes and now newport pagnel which has a nice stretch also consider the ivel , i also travel and fish the severn (3-3 1/2 hrs) and the kennet and loddon ( 2 1/2 - 3 hrs) which i normally go for 2 - 3 days to make it worth while . if you need any info or help please pm me. ray
