hi,spot on with the top line of your post manu, the only thing i do different to you though regarding pellets is the opposite very tiny elips pellets that are
flat, dead easy to drill[with a nut drill]and on a hair held in place with a bristle from a scrubbing brush, the hair itself is 1lb mono, and not made from the
main line or hooklength.fiddly to tie,but worth the effort, which has always worked for me,[well if there are fish about]

Two blondes facing each other on a river, one says "How do you get to the other side" The other blonde looks up and down a bit then says, "You
ARE on the other side" There fore if some one was fishing the far side and quite fancied the over hanging bush on YOUR side he would make a heck of a
racket casting to where you can lower a bait in.

I fish a very small river ( so it's all margins really ) and mostly do what Manu suggests. Like to always have 3 or 4 swims baited other than the one I am
fishing, when you move you are always going to a swim that has been baited and rested.
I think what Paul Boote says is also important. My knees wont let me do the crawling bit, but being carefull about how you move and thinking about every thing you do before you do it, will catch you fish. Sit quietly and wait for a bite or a shaven headed gentleman to break off a large branch and chuck it in for his two rotweilers. Baited and rested margin swims are killers when it starts to get dark. Lots of times last summer they turned blanks into cracking days. Shaun |

Silly question but what do you guys class as the margin on a large river such as the Trent? Within a 3 ft of the bank still?

I had a great evening two years ago solely concentrating on the margins. I walked over a mile baiting swims as I walked (walked upstream by the way) made my
way back to the car grabbed my gear and started roving. Spent no more than 30 minutes in each swim and took 5 barbel and 3 chub, all taken less than 6 feet
from the near bank. No need for quivertips they still pull the rod in.
