I would like to add to what Paul has said that seems to be a wierd sense of logic occurring here, and it seems to go even further into the very core of BFW...
its called double standards!
If a poll was placed on this site regarding who visits "the other site' I would stake a large wager that very few would even post yes or no for fear of being seen as a traitor!
How many posters on this thread have visited the "other site....that cannot be mentioned"......more then Once,twice or more?
They/we/I have a Lurkers thread over on "the other one"......I suggest next time anyone is on the site by accident they have a look how many pages have been made (almost as many as the medway thread!)
and the names it contains
The strange thing is the very author of this post is as he well knows is a regular visitor over there!.....Sorry Hugo it has to be said, how can you even begin to write such a condescending post and be a visitor at the same time?
Its a bit like saying you hate football but going to the match every Saturday!
I openly go on the site we dare not mention properly twice as much as here nowadays because I have many real genuine friends that face to face are just the same as the next joe public...the same as BFW members.
this sort of looking down on other posts is just awful....so condescending and is the worst sort of posting because they (the posters concerned think they are on a higher level to "them"
So if this site goes down several roads open to them, which i see as
(a ) members only (closed shop).
(b) can only join/post on BFW if sign up on site.
(c) you have to fill out questionnaire/apply for membership.
(d) paid yearly membership.
All of the above will see a hardcore of members that would become isolated from the very reason for its existence and would become a stale, sterile environment that within a short period would cease to exsist.
what is this sort of post trying to prove?
How would you select the people worthy of posting on here?
would it be perhaps decided if you/me/I have ever visted certain sites?
where would you draw the line?
what does BFW want a mixture of beginners and experts from all walks of life, or a selected few who have and share the same blinkered out- look?...how boring will that end up?
I feel that BFW has lost its way a little through not as many think the moderators being overzealous, but threads like this make it feel sterile and a sense of elitism that is laughable, if not so sad!
