"George" was from Asia Minor - modern Turkey. The story of him slaying the dragon dates to way WAY back, is Middle Eastern in origin and was brought
back to Britain by returning Crusaders, who then given the myth / legend a Christian spin...

April 23rd is also the day when reputedly Shakespeare was born in 1564. He coincidentally died on that day 52 years later.

Im Irish in blood but i was born here in England,my full English friends moan a lot about St Patrick's day,and why don't we celebrate St George,s
