BBH,
Is there a local number to report illegal 'anglers' or do we use the national no. Regards, Dave |

Use the National No so that the call is logged then you will get feedback if requested unfortunatly a lot of reports come in to late or after the incident a
bit like closing the gate after the horse has bolted , so promt reporting is best with as much detail as posable ie vehicle registrations ect.

BBH- whilst i appreciate the 'warning' and the river being watched , as you put it, im fully aware of the close season and never have, and never would
coarse fish during it.
As stated in my previous post i was FLY fishing this morning which is all i ever do in the close on the rivers. I hope this clears up any misconception you may have about me and the way i fish. Louis Incidentally the Grayling is not a coarse fish it is a member of the Salmonidae family.

Hi Louis I was just pointing out that if you are asked what you are fishing for and you state Grayling or anything that comes along and do not define Trout, be
that none migratory or migratory and be in possession of the correct licence then you or anybody else will be reported. And I didn't say that the grayling
was of the Coarse fish family I mearly stated that its close season is the same as the coarse fish close season 15th March inclusive to and inclusive the15th
of June.
Kind Regards and Tight Lines BBH |

Fair enough, i wasnt aware one would have to state they were fishing for Trout, thought the fact i was on the fly would be enough.
im not that good a fly fisherman to specifically target any particular species, so where does that leave me? Ive no control over what takes the flies. Maybe i could have worded my original post a bit better

So Louis, did you catch anything? (waiting with baited breath - excuse the pun)
The problem with forums (as I and notable others have found) is that our often innocent words can be misinterpreted. There's a chap who's not going to contribute to BFW anymore because of a few derisory comments made about one or two of his posts. Whilst, IMHO, he's taking things a little personally, I would agree that a lot of aggro is down to a misrepresentation of what has been written. Live and let live I reckon....as long as no laws are broken. |

Sam - yeah, you're right. And reading back some of my own comments, I'm only adding to the hilarity.
Any tips on productive bait (particularly for tench) on the lake would be most appreciated. Cheers, Rich |

rod n line - Are you being serious? It's the close season (see earlier posts) and you shouldn't be fishing for coarse fish. If you don't know the
laws concerning the river close season, look it up - Mar 15 to Jun 15 inclusive.

Absolutely correct to put this poster right rich , but , if you quickly read the posts on the page and didn't know any better you could easily think that
it was OK to fish on the river, after all the posts on the page were all about going fishing / wetting a line etc and it is a Barbel fishing web site !Careful
reading does reveal a reference to the closed season and previous pages do make it clear that there is close season .It could just be a mistake , or another
one of these silly wind ups that is plagueing this site at the moment .

I know what your saying Mike but people shouldn't be reading this site and then going fishing. I would rather talk fishing on this page rather than ....
you have pm like you see on other pages. Also I quote from the back of my rod licence:
" a national coarse fish close season is in place on rivers, streams, drains and SSSI's from 15th march- 15 June inclusive. Other byelaws also apply. Nobody should have an excuse if they have a rod licence. So like you say its either a wind up or someone with a clear disregard for the rules. |

Dan,whatever the case , I think this person will have got the closed season message now , lets hope so anyway .Cheers .
