Just back from a few hours spinning on a local pit.
I hooked 5 pike, all of which fell off shortly afterwards.(some of them might have been the same fish?)
I'm unsure whether to strike hard on a take, or lean into the fish, setting the hooks that way.
Instinct tells me I need to make the lure move in the pikes mouth by striking firmly, thus setting the hooks...they still fell off.
I tried 'leaning' into the fish and they still fell off.
This was using 'spinner baits' with a large single, plugs bristling with trebles, and soft 'banjo minnows' with a single hook.
What might I be doing wrong, anyone? I was tearing my hair out, and came home in disgust.

No substitute for a 1lb chub or bream livebait!
