Carbon active rods |
Lead | |
|
Fished a carp lake yesterday, with large waglers to an island 35 yards away. I used a Preston carbon active 13ft float rod. I was very impressed with the way
the rod handled the fish. Can anyone suggest a brand of rod that uses carbon active materials that would be suitable for barbel?

Haven't really looked into it but pretty sure it is just a carbon blank with the name Active, to denote responsiveness I guess.

I think preston do a barbel rod using same or similar materials.

They were really very nice Doc, do they still make them ? My local tackle shop (J + K) were doing good deals on them at one time, might be worth a call.

I have had an Asaki barbel specialist for a few years and I would not be without it . Its fish playing action is superb , it just keeps on coping , if I had
not told the other half that I had enough barbel rods at £139 I would be tempted to have another. That price is a real bargain, the quality of these rods is
top class.

It is a bargain Chris - I probably should have mentioned that the RRP is £225.
I can't justify it - have far too many rods, and a fair few harrisons among them. Chimera 3s and Triptychs. But if I were upgrading or going for my first serious barbel rod I think a harrison rod or this carbonactive would be the choice I'd be torn between. I love the carbonactive float and feeder rods - they turn my resolute cackhandedness into perfect casts every time. And the fish playing action - as others have said - is second to none. I don't doubt this barbel version would be just as good. |

Thanks very much for that link Dr.
That rod is mine, can't wait to get my hands on it, if it as good as the float rod I know it will be superb. Chris, what colour are the 3 rod tips?
