Just got back from a 5 hour day session, my mate had a 10lb barb in like 10 minutes.... I repositioned a bait at ~noon and had a massive run, I think I know
the strength of the fish in the flow of the stretch I was on and it was definitely a big fish.... Unfortunately It bust me off, I was not fishing light, DAM!!
I have a bit of a *$@% thermometer, but it was reading 7 degrees C.

Fished for 5 hours on Saturday and didn't catch. Did have a bite on a big lob worm which went unnoiced.....BUGGER!!!
The wind was howling down the river so unless i had a 3 foot twitch i wouldn't of noticed a bite anyway as the rod tips were continually banging due to wind. Loads of weed plus what looked like toilet paper (NICE!) Was only able to keep a rod in water for 20 minutes tops before weed dislodged lead. Ended up fishing one rod as trying to keep two in the water was too much hassle!!! Not the end to the season i wanted but you can't have everything i suppose!? I did have a PB of 8lb 8oz from above Caythorpe and my brother had a 10lb 4oz PB also which in my book is a good season. |

Went for one more session on my favourite stretch "above Caythorpe" yesterday.
Started at about 3.00pm but little action at all 'til about 5.15 when the tip of my Elips rod went round. After a heavy fight in the strong current (I had to use 5 oz lead to hold bottom although there wasn't that much extra water) it cameto the net, twice, and on the third run the hook pulled. DOH! It looked like a possible double, too! Anyway, I started to get more regular bites and by nine o'clock I'd banked six barbel, from 3lb 12 oz up to 9lb 4 oz plus a nice chub of 3lb 12 oz. I also lost yet another big fish at the net just before packing up at about 11.00p.m.! So all in all, not a bad night's work. Most of the barbs came to Elips as usual, although the two biggest (7lb and 9lb 4) came on my second rod with Monster crab pellet and Spicy Shrimp and Prawn boilie. Water temp. was a nice 46F (8C) and it wasn't a cold night as such, just a wee bit blowy!! I've still got two more outings left, tomorrow (Soar or Dove) and Friday (Avon) depending on conditions, of course! Cheers Roger |

Nice One Roger !
Shame about the lost fish, the larger fish probably favouring something a bit different? Good Luck over the next couple of days... Ads |

Hi Andy I don't know this stretch myself and I doubt if you will get many replies during the close season. I can only suggest that you go for a look at the
water and see if like minded peeps are doing the same .
Best of luck for the coming season. |

I have read some articles ref Fiskerton and it is supposed to be pretty good, but not big fish but 5 - 7lb in abundance. Pellett did the trick. I beleive you get the day tickets from the local Post Office... Hope this helps and good luck!! Keep us posted on any trips you have |
