The fight from those 7 and 8's is pretty fast and furious but doesn't last as long as the resistance of the doubles.
I fish the Dove and Trent, the swims I fish on the Dove are usually shallower and narrower and have snags close by, so there is a lot of hit and hold in many swims. Some years ago I took a ten pound carp from the Dove and it didn't fight anywhere near as well as a ten pound barbel taken from the same swim. An eleven I had from the Trent didn't fight as well as an eleven I had from the Dove but the Trent swim was much deeper. I've only had fish up to 8 from the Wye but they fought pretty hard. I suspect that the Teme and Dove have a reputation for hard fighting fish as they are similar small, fast flowing venues with plenty of nearby snags for the fish to find. Bill |

No matter which river.
No matter the size of fish. The older I become, the harder they seem to fight.---John |

Teme.. never had a 'gimme' from this river, but all shallower rivers seem to offer better sport.

Has to be the teme for me. Real hook and hold tactics. Such a small river with loads of snags, got me into barbel fishing . Top river.
