A bunch of Bentley-driving, carpark picnic-ers (and that's just the Team) losing to a Nation that still lives its Rugby.
Was I bovvered? Nope. Not a bit. I'll support any outfit that plays Rugby of the ever-hopeful, mud-stained, eff-you peasant variety. PS - Always been more a Wales Supporter than one of the Sais Shower. Bit of both, you see?

Paul,
Now a voice of reason has arrived after Taffs hysterical ramblings My predictions for the weekend :- I think England will probably go and fall apart at Murrayfield, after their Paris heroics, it's bound to happen !

Well that was desperate wasn't it? Ultimately you have to ask yourself the question why is it that players who perform well week in week out for their club
sides are incapable of looking like anything more than rank amateurs when they pull on an England strip. Personally for me the buck stops at the coaching setup
these players aren't that bad but this whole concept of Ashton putting responsibility for decisions on the players is flawed any team needs strong
leadership you only have to look at the improvements in the Wales squad to realise the benefits of strong leadership. Were england heroic in france? No the
french got there tactics all wrong and were unable to change and adapt.

OK,
Three out of Three ! Next weekend I reckon :- Wales to get The Slam in a full bloodied encounter in Cardiff.......... England to fall to bits once again against Ireland (probably be their worst ever finish !) And I fancy Scotland to turn over Italy away......... Cheers Paul M.............. |

Haye was superb ! Talked the Talk and Walked the Walk !
The sight of Macrenllei staggering around the ring after the knockdown was comedy at it's best ! I fully believe that if he steps up to Heavyweight he will do the business there too ! Clarkie, you can try m8, but you'll be coming in with me Agree about Ashton though, don't think he has the passion or commands respect like other coaches ! Look at Wales, same pool of players who went out of The World Cup to Fiji ! Just a different, brave coaching set up ! Their defence was superb and as Huw said to me, they'e learne to 'Win Ugly' and grind victories out ! Next Saturday should be a cracker ! Cheers Paul M............ |

The trouble starts at the top with our RFU. Change is needed right through, Francis Baron, on a big salary for doing s*d all, Rob Andrew someone tell me what
his job is? The other problem is AShton doesn't get on with his forwards coach John Wells. I'know Wellsy personally and he's a great forwards
coach, Ashton is to to placid. Why do we persevere with players from a club that never does anything, Wilko, Flood, Noon.
Wilko hasn't really played well all season, Noon and Flood are no better than average. Forwards where is the leader, Vickery a raging bull don't make me laugh, he's not playing well enough to be in the team. Rant over Paul |

Hit the nail square and firmly on the head there, ashton has to realise that its just isn't working, whatever it is he is trying to do, you can't keep blaming the players for under performing every week. |

i agree tigerman,we dont have a real leader in the forwards.vickery does'nt have that mean streak like a johno, dallaglio or corry.

Does anyone watch the French league rugby on Eurosport on friday nights? Best rugby in the world! The problem with rugby in England is the consistency of
style. Look at France all the teams throw the ball around and play unstructed skillful showboat rugby, Welsh clubs play a expansive all inclusive game, the
super 14's is in a state at the moment the new rules are stupid. But all the Southern hemisphere teams play the same sort of game, as do their national
teams, or with little variation.
Brings us to England, Leicester smash it up with the forwards then give it to big backs, Wasps play a good style of rugby, London Irish play everything with their 3/4's and Newcastle play around a 10. Every club plays different rugby and therefore the players aren't accustomed to whatever the hell Ashton is trying to do when they come together. And yes the RFU board need to go. |

Hey Mustache,
We only have one big back and thats Alex Tulagi, wouldn't say Hipkiss, Smith, Goode, Varndell etc are big. The bit that concerns me is that the teams at the top of the Premiership seem to provide the fewest players. I saw Newcastle play at Leicester and Tait was woeful, Noon wasn't much better and Wilko didn't do much. These players are supposed to be crucial to England yet they're not playing well so why pick 'em. Sinbad, Lamb, Allen, Hipkiss, Ollie Smith are the future get 'em in now or sack the coach. Paul |

Well now the dust has settled and the sore heads have started to wear off, I can look back on what a day and what a championship.
Wales thoroughly deserved the win yesterday and the championship as a whole. How different it would have been if Sackey had "grounded" that ball in the 1st half against Wales....would we have come back from 23-6 down? What if the Italian TMO had not given Shane's "try" against Scotland?.....How momentus occasions hinge on the judgement call of one official. The bottom line is that we had the best forward of the tournament in Martyn Williams, the best winger in Shane Williams, a full back that England would kill for in Byrne, had the best coaching team in Gatland, Edwards and Howley and the best supporters. All in all we had a team! The pack may not have been the strongest and the most technically adept, but they played with heart and passion. Gatland wasnt afraid to ring the changes and make everyone compete for their place. People were disciplined behind closed doors and a lid was kept on the expectancy of a nation. The coaches gave Wales a belief and the steel to win ugly. Remember how the classic England/All Black/Bok teams would crush the will out of sides? How the skullduggery around the fringes would gain that few percent of advantage? Well thats what Gatland and Edwards brought to a Welsh side brimming with talent but not much confidence and nous! The true mark will be how we move on from here. Bearing in mind Gatland and Edwards will have seen their stock rise markedly and if the RFU had any sense they would dust off the P45's and issue them to Messers Ashton & Andrews in the morning, then open the cheque book and write 6 noughts preceeded by a number that would be negoiated by the prospective applicant. The WRU too if they had any sense would also be rushing for 2 pairs of golden handcuffs to keep Gatland & Edwards out of the clutches of Twickenham. As for England......As PaulMatty has said...out with the old..in with the new. Jonny Wilko, like Gareth Thomas of Wales, should "announce" his retirement from International rugby, thus clearing the way for Cipriani and avoiding the spectacle of a proud match winner being reduced to a bit part and then the ignominy of being left out. The coach, who ever he may be, should then swing the axe and lay waste to the over hyped, under achievers that wore the white shirt this year. Dont get too carried away with a 33-10 scoreline yesterday...Ireland are a shadow of their former selves...another team that either has hopelessly under achieved or a team that O'Sullivan has simply wasted the golden talent that was available to him. Scotland......where do they go from here? Dan Parks......Dan Pants! White & Stokosch should make the Lions tour, along with Pattison. Italy.....keep building and finding lots of Argentine/All Blacks with a tenuous Roman heritage. France...will continue to thrill and frustrate as they always have done! Wouldnt it be interesting to have a Premiership style play off for top spot between Wales and England now! One gripe....the Sunday Rags!!!! You would have thought that England won the Grand Slam with the amount of column inches! In 2 papers Wales had less that one column for the write up!! C'mon you Fleet Street hacks...get a bit of balance in!!!! I think what won, yet again, was rugby! The total unpredictability of the championship never ceases to amaze and please me......It makes any other sport pale in comparison.....and I just live that aspect. So...Paul..Thanks for being there yesterday to enjoy it and Wales...thanks for stirring the passion and bringing a tear to my eye! What a day! Huw
