Has anyone been down over the weekend? Was thinking of chancing a few hours tonight after it being slightly milder the last couple of days.
Wish I livied nearer to go check the water temp!

Any luck on FAS water anyone? went down to SE lower last night and water temp was 10.5 / 51 so thought i might be in with a chance but only received one
chub-like knock at around 9pm then dead again

With the water temperature having plummeted after 2 hard frosts I decided to go to my favourite FAS stretch of the Loddon this morning to do some chubbing. So
armed with my trusty John Wilson quiver tip rod and 5 lb line, 2 swan shot and a decent sized hook covered in paste I cast in mid morning having taken the
water temp at 44F. 1st cast the tip pulled round evenly and I struck expecting a chub. It was obvious immediately that it was not and a battle royal ensued
with squeeky bot time prevalent. I have to admit it was with great pleasure and some pride that I slipped my net under, what turned out to be, a pristine 12
lb 9 oz barb. My best barbel of the season.
So it just shows, it may have been chub weather but someone had forgotten to tell this barbel. Sadly none of his/her mates had the same hunger pangs but one unexpected barbel was enough to go with 2 nice chub of 3.8 and 4.4 caught later in the afternoon. So keep at it these last few days of the season, you never know. Good luck. John L |

Yay ! I had my first ever Loddon Barbel earlier tonight, 9lb 2oz, I am absolutely over the moon !
It was a target I had set myself to get a Barbel before the end of the season from the Loddon having fished it only twice before, earlier this year. I did things a little differntly tonight and it paid off, very, very happy. J

Well done on your first Loddon beauty. Although not my first from this fine river I did have my first from SE recently. I am going there for a final fling
tomorrow (celebrating 56th birthday in my favourite way) and hope to add to the number, or at least get some good chub. Any updates on the stretch and what the
gales and rain have done to it please? Tight lines all.
