Posts: 49 (26/02/08 22:43) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Hi all, Just got back from an after work session.River really warming up at 45f.Bait in the water for about 15mins and wollop.3 foot twitch and a new PB of 12lb 1oz.The fish in this area seem to be well on the feed at the moment,what with Alex's fish and now this one. Would like to think you are catching from where we discussed in the summer as i thought it looked spot on to give results ( if it's not there then maybe next season ? ). The Nene is definitely an up and coming river, and has probably held some reasonable barbel for some time. I am convinced the results you get are proportionate to the effort you put in to find the fish, so turning up and expecting to catch a barbel just doesn't happen, any capture is hard won..........especially a double. Nige make sure you keep location of your "new" area close to your chest ! Bob

Bob,seem to remember we discussed various locations last summer.And quite a few drops of JD have passed my lips since.Doesn't do the little grey cells much good i'm affraid. Tom,good luck with your area mate.It seems to have paid off down this end of river.Will be fishing up yours and Bob's neck of the woods during the closed river season.Tench fishing on Barkers and Brightwells on the Wellingborough ticket. Posts: 66 (03/03/08 14:21) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	no probs nige,was spoding out a parti blend mix with all the other usuall bits and bobs thrown in with a good helping of pineapple csl they were loving it,in the swims near the locks there's always fish in that area.back to barbel was out friday in the winds ended up packing up at 630 the tree's next to me looked a bit fragile.didn't fancy getting a knock or the kit getting smashed, think was in with a good chance of a fish too.better safe than sorry eh.well done on the catch lads.out thursday and friday can't wait

Posts: 478 (03/03/08 15:55) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Nige, Bob & other "Neners", probably see you all in closed season on Brightwell, maybe have a dabble for the tench but come April the deadbait's getting out there Nene at the moment is producing loads of bream between 5 & 6lb, and a few between 7 & 8lb (my best this year so far 7lb 10oz), chub are being a bit slow on main river (nothing much over 4lb 8oz) and the barbel are still non existant!

Come on, you must have a one of those wier pool barbel by now ? Up to the Trent on Friday for the weekend with the "other" crowd and then got next wed, thurs and friday off. Sooo plenty of time to be on the bank Nige, I'll probably bump into you down at the Ringstead complex some time, might even get a W'boro ticket and have a session down there for the barbel next week and then have a go for the tench myself once the water warms up a bit. Gave up on that weir pool as a bad job; all we have had out of there is small chub, loads of ruff (taking massive hooks) and eels. Looking forward to the warmer weather so I can throw a fly around again after the chub and carp. Not gunna bother with the Vauxhall ticket this year, spent a too many cold nights in Bedfordshire with no fish to warrant the cash. Definately sticking to W&DAC, backbrooks and lakes this year though and exploring some of the more unknown spots on the Nene. No posts because not much fishing and nothing worth reporting when I have been Lost a monster fish yesterday (hook pull) in the main river that buried deep, went mad all over the swim and screamed line, 3 dendra's on a #14 and plenty of hemp ground bait; guess it was a big chub but who knows what is in there near a crease and two weirs...

The fish entitled whacker was caught by Jason at 12lb 2 ounces. I caught it a year later at 11 3/4lb in the September, 2 years ago. Not been seen since but it was a long fish, i estimate 35-36". Very lean with no weight, if it had been an Ouse fish ?? Bob
