I went over the river this afternoon and fished into darkness, the water temp was 6.4 and the river was pretty low but had some colour in it. Me and my mate
both blanked, still it was nice to be out in the sunshine, very cold though.

WT 46ºF at noon today (21/2). Was out chubbing near Newbury - managed 10 to 5lb5oz. Also had a small barbel on the float which was nice!

Hi Folks
My mate Mark had an afternoon off work on Thursday and went out and caught this cracking 14lb 1oz Kennet barbel, I have to say he does deserve this fish as he has been out there putting the hours in 2 or 3 sessions per week come rain or shine, well done Mark

Will be staying in Windsor mid-August for a week and, although my wife doesn't know it yet(!), will be hoping to squeeze in a couple of late afternoon
sessions on the Kennet; that's assuming there are any day ticket stretches. Have always wanted to fish this great venue and would appreciate any advice on
where to start. I don't expect info on specific pegs - that takes the fun out of it for me - but would value advice on stretches that can be fished on a
d/t. Much of my fishing is 'sit and wait' on the Trent; does the same apply on the Kennet or are roving tactics best? What sort of baiting
strategy/hook-baits are likely to be needed (assuming normal sumer conditions). I know August is a long way off but I'm already looking forward to it!

Hi Folks
Me and my mate went out this afternoon, water temps were 9.6 (49) there is tinge of colour in the water but its running at normal levels. I hooked a fish at around 3 pm but the hook pulled. We had 3 fish around 6.30pm all within 10 mins of each other during a short heavy down pour of rain. I had a 9lb dead and my mate had a 9lb 10z and small one around 6lb. I am very happy with my fish as its my first since around November! |
