Chris, What I didn't mention was that a few weeks ago, the episodes were so severe I was having 'out of body' experiences. Now that IS SCARY!! Still, I
looked the Reaper in the eyes and said I want another PB before I go (now that should take a while |

Do you know sometimes I like to think that I have neither the brain power or wish to continue thinking about grievances I have had with people in the past on
BFW. BB Kings ailments show that there is often more to worry about in life. I guess there are some of us who feel we are here for an infinite amount of time,
and as such, have a lot to devote to such grievances. It is a shame because we aren't, but for the short time we are, we don't consider what we say to
others more carefully. I sincerely hope that you get well soon Gary.
Chris Ponsford, I really do wish you would refrain from repeating the rather immature nicknames that you give some people on the Barbel Society's committee. Aside from it showing you in a childish light, I do wonder how you would react to yourself being given such names. Not favourably I think. Regards, Damian

I did leave the Barbel Society Barbelitus, primarily because at the time I thought it was more active in the area of Research and Conservation than they
actually were. Initially I was fairly shocked but, when I considered the passing of Mike Burdon (Research and Conservation Chairman) which was for the most
part the reason why, I always knew I'd rejoin.
Pete Reading was then made the Chairman of R and C and that was encouragement enough... I have to say that I often wonder what £25 will get you these days, it's not a lot is it? Yet that's what it will cost you for your first season in the Barbel Society, and again, I have to repeat, it's not a lot is it? What do you get for that though? A very good magazine twice yearly. A quarterly newsletter giving you information on what's happening with the Juniors, Fisheries, R and C and within the BS. The chance to fish some very good barbel waters. I must say at this point that there is a sub-committee within the Barbel Society that has been set up for looking into ways to make membership more attractive. It will succeed so the physical benefits of becoming a member will not stop there. However, there is a big social side to the BS and a short while ago a few guys organised a day out on one of the fisheries and it seemed to be very popular. You will make friends after having joined the BS, and from that should broaden your knowledge on fishing for barbel. I guess you could say that further to the above, though perhaps generally, it will give you the prospect of joining a group of like minded people who do a damn site more good than the bad you might believe when you read vrious websites. Howard, sorry I didn't answer your question on the BS boards. Forgive me as I haven't the time to answer now either but, I will get back to you soon. Regards, Damian

Hi Damian
Thank you for your reply. Am I right in reading that it took for someone be laid to rest for you to rejoin, or have I misread that? |

Gary,
congratulations on the scan result. The evidence and the wonders of modern tchnology is there for us all to see. At least they managed to find a Brain and the microwaves managed to enlarge it greatly. Many of us doubted there was one in there at all, just shows how wrong you can be. Well done and and trust your feeling OK. Keith |

As a BS member I've been very quiet on this thread only glancing at it and noting the same anti-BS posters. I'm not trying to cause an argument one way
or the other the only thing I will say it's each to their own. If you wish to join and think it's worth it then join, if you don't wish to join
then don't bother. Without wishing to spoil any friendships can I just say that we know some of you are anti BS so do you need to keep putting your points
over every time a BS thread appears.
Gary sorry to hear you haven't been well hope things get better for you, we'll catch up again soon. Pons I got your pm sorry I haven't responded but have been very busy at work and almost forgot what a fishing rod looks like. I'll drop you a line soon. Regards both Paul

Glad to hear things are going well for you Gary good luck for a very long and fruitful future.
Loved the picture of the san it looks like it could have been anyone of the BS committee! I did not think I would be interested in this particular BS topic, after the entire BS forum better known as the "dead zone" was never very interesting. But as there have been some comments posted by one or two I felt the need to comment. The first comment was made by "angel eyes" as follows, "No matter what differences we appear to have we are all fisherman, it is a common bond no matter what." Sorry to say I can't agree with that comment. You and the BS committee have alienated more barbel anglers than you have members for obvious reason that have been stated in the past by so many. Why is it that nearly all ex-committee members are so against what you personally stand for? I must now pick up on comments made by "Wallace" "angel eyes" subordinate better know as "DAMIAN". "If you do not want to dwell on grievances why bring them up at every opportunity"? Why worry about nicknames "Wallace" its all in good fun get your head out of your own backside and don't take yourself so seriously. Your reasons for leaving and rejoining are soup in a basket! "I did leave the Barbel Society Barbelitus, primarily because at the time I thought it was more active in the area of Research and Conservation than they actually were. Initially I was fairly shocked but, when I considered the passing of Mike Burdon (Research and Conservation Chairman) which was for the most part the reason why, I always knew I'd rejoin." Forgive me talking of the dead, but Mike was the R/C chairman from the BS conception I am not sure at what stage he became inactive due to illness but his passing can hardly be used as an excuse for the lack of progress on the R/C front. I had great regard for Mike, so no disrespect is meant to his memory. I know he worked very hard, with little or no help from the membership or some who sat on the committee. I was aware at the time and during Mike's illness that "angel eyes" was supposed to take the reins regarding R/C you may wish to ask him what he did during that period. Nothing was what I heard. A sub committee was formed, do you mean someone or somebody to blame and for "angel eyes" to get rid of when things don't improve on the membership front? As for good and bad the jury and certain club chairman are still debating what good the BS has brought to barbel fishing and angling per se. As to the original question, the BS entire forum is both boring and inactive most of the time, as for being a closed forum that is not quite true. As an ex member I am still able to access it so can keep up with things in the "dead zone". "Paul"(Tigersman) I would not worry about friendships if they are strong a bit of disagreement will not harm them. As with every BS topic there are those who praise it every time, so it seems only right that some ex members who have served as committee men or just ordinary members have the right to state the negatives. That's call "freedom of speech" mi duck! Please yourselves |
