I have a Fox Stalker chair, but i find it a bit heavy & cumbersum for walking up & down the river, any suggestions on a budget priced lightweight
chair, i've tried sitting on my unhooking matt on my bait tub but it gets a bit uncomfortable after a days fishing.
Many Thanks John |

Hi,
Not telling you off, just helping, but if you look at the 'FAQ' section at the top of the page you'll see a few chair related questions. Personally, I've recently ordered a Nash Nomad after reading various good reports on forums etc. But they're no longer made and have had to pay over the odds for a new one on ebay. Wychwood Rover chair is good for the price. £20. But doesn't have adjustable feet etc. It's all about compromise really.

Albert is spot on with the fishrite chair. Have had one for about 2 years and its brilliant - light , folds up easily without the legs falling out , 4 adjustable legs , on steep banks leave the back two folded up just use the front two, ultimate comfort . Micknal |

A Nash Nomad is best lightweight chair if you can get one.
The Chub lo-lite runs a close second. A certain fat person from this site broke the frame on my Nomad but I just bought a lo-lite locally, as couldnt get a Nash without paying loads of postage, and swopped the cover, instant carry strap

I would also say that the nash nomad is the best but no longer available.
The lightest by a mile is the wychwood superlight, weighs nothing but I am 19 stone and mine lasted me just over a season, the seat rails bent like bananas after about 6 months and after just over a year the back snapped off, I would however strongly recomend it if you are not carrying a few extra pounds like me!!!

Just to say my Nash Nomad arrived today so I thought I'd give you my first impressions. It hasn't left the house yet!:
- Size and weight wise it seems very similar to a Chub lo-lite I played with in a local tackle shop recently. I was hoping it would be noticibly smaller and lighter but there doesn't seem a great deal of difference. Just the impression I got. It may not actually be the case! - Everything looks very solid and well built apart from the extentable legs which seem a bit flimsy compared to the rest of it. - Nice big mud feet and easy and secure clips for the extendable legs. I'm pleased with it but it is a bit bigger and heavier than I was expecting. I'm a small guy so maybe I could have got away with a lighter/smaller model. Not complaining. Just saying.

Recently bought a JRC X-Lo and have found that the arms actually help quite a bit in getting out of it.
I also have one of the early aluminium framed Terry Hearn JRC Roamer and this is actually lighter than the X-Lo. The legs on the Roamer actually bent on the second trip out, together with much shedding of paint and I wasn't that impressed. At the time my e-mails to JRC went unanswered and I vowed not to buy another one of their chairs. But I've forgiven them now after 4 or 5 years and the chair is still holding together and still very comfy. The back and the back top bar bar on the X-Lo is a bit low for me. Whether this will be a problem then only time will tell. Cheers Bob |

Just had a trawl through the archives as I`m in need of a new chair pronto.
The trusty Fox Stalker finally gave up the ghost a couple of weeks ago after a good few years of abuse. I looked for a lighter chair and decided to give the TFG Force 8 a go. Unfortunately this has lasted a grand total of three trips then one of the welds snapped and the leg twisted so its confined to the garage. So, I`m in the market for another chair. I absolutely love the Fox Stalker but after using the F8 realised that the weight of the Stalker could be an issue. I`m not convinced that a lightweight chair won`t be lightweight on the bank so need some convincing........ I`ve seeb the Fistrite ones mentioned, are they any good i.e, strong? Not after a recliner by the way, just adjustable legs. |
