passed over today on my way to work starting to look good should fish well very soon keep an eye on temp we had a very cold morning yesterday but quite warm today dont know todays temp but it was quite mild for time of year

Hi All,

Put in a few hours at paintmaster - but not a sniff of 'old whiskers'. River level still a foot up (or so). Is it true that barbel prefer rising, rather than falling, levels? Just looking for an excuse, but I do actually recall reading it somewhere....

Was it that bad Rich. I have heard it too, think Dave or Oilman pointed us towards the article.

Hi All

River should be back to normal winter levels in the morning. The flood which was 5-6ft (above current levels) at it's peak, has done some major restructuring of swims and pegs !

Nothing doing with the barbel, will have to find them again - but then no one else caught either

(who posted) !

Interesting to be able to walk where I caught barbel last week.

hi all, not been online much lately(huston we have technical difficulties...doh!...bloody computers!!) plenty of fishing been done and lots caught. get back on the feeder halibut powder and white crumb with a filling of micro pellet.hookbait, pellet ,boilie..bread!! temp steady 48, still plenty of colour.

lot of people fishing yesterday and catching so dont be suprised if its a little difficult in the popular spots today,, venture to pastures new.

dave. the river has changed a lot, i had a peep at the pear mill yesterday, when did the beach turn into an island/hill? (i presume it was during the floods, i havent been down there for over a year)

goodluck all, find some fish as they is still 'avin it!

Happy New Year to you all,soz about the timing!

fished yesterday, my first session on the Goyt this year , no barbel but caught my first ever sea trout, on paste wrapped boilie!!
also lost a good fish that done me a snag
good to hear plenty being caughtby others, back out tomorrow hopefully

Hi all. Went and had a stroll on the river before. Banks quite deserted and those who were on were struggling.

Was looking good for fishing, maybe a temperature thing

good to hear their coming out from others though.

well done louise, great news for the river. i was talking to a guy yesterday who said theres been a good run of large sea trout entering the goyt, and many reported salmon sightings are actually sea trout. i can see it now, new fly pattern, imatation paste wrapped boilie fly!!

had a decent sea trout from the goyt last year but that was a lot further upstream. bout three pound. they fight great.only one i've had. met ya yesterday bout dinner time. i was just goin on.

been out of action myself was out yesterday for 8 hours one bite one fish around 6 pound 24 mm halibut wraped in cheese paste not many anglers about .
