Hi Chris - great to see you back on the forum. And on the bank as well, hopefully?
Paul - yep, I'd do my best though there are quite a few chaps on this forum who are much more successful (and experienced) than I. However, I'm more than happy to impart any tips and hints I pick up. Hope to see you soon to arrange a session.... Dan - sent you a pm about rods on ebay... |

Cheers for the welcome. nice to see folk replying. still not been to asda to put the pics on a cd yet.
as for the fishing. not to rub salt, i'm very skint and don't have much tackle so i have to use an old match rod and no stand just my chair as one. did use hali pellets but. the fish love them. i've used that rod for everything. asked the wife for a new one for christmas but she wouldn't buy any fishing stuff. she's not a big fan. thanks again lads. Interesting Ideas | ||

Hi All,
Interesting ideas and techniques on the Dane thread at the mo http://barbelfishingworld.yuku.com/topic/1324?page=37 Some may not work as well on the Goyt - we cannot easily see the fish, but well worth considering. Dave |

Nice on Warren - and more credit to you for using light tackle. Having said that, you obviously run the risk of being broken fairly often if you're
actually targeting barbel. The consequences of that affect the fish as well as your loss of terminal tackle. Just something to bear in mind and if it sounds
like I'm preaching, it's not my intention to do so.

Cheers, Richyes it does
i know you only mean well rich and you have a very good point, the barbel i have had on the goyt were medium sized fish caught on lightish tackle and my arms suffered for days afterwards!! very interesting in the dane thread dave, will have to have a go at those methods, to be honest been thinking about pellet and its value as a bait and what it does for fish etc, decided it wont be my main bait from now on dan

Dan - oh well. I guess the old adage 'less is more' is particularly relevant when it comes to my forum entries. You obviously need to do more
press-ups each day

Had a short sesh this afternoon. started at otterspool trottin with antique tackle ie split cane and pin. not a sniff. river well up lots of debris commin
down. moved down to pear mill same tactics. lost a decent trout(great earobatics) then hooked into somethin a lot bigger didnt shake its head or go balistic
like a trout or hug the bottom barbel style just sort of swam in circles. possibly a decent chub. anyway it snapped my line as it made a run for it.(4lb
mono).then to add insult to injury it started raining. 1st blank on the goyt. cold ,wet, miserable. back on tomorrow.are we all there?

Rich -no its all good advise, but i'm using 8lb main line, barbless hooks and a lead safety clip designed for carp. so its only my rod at risk. saying that
for a £15 match rod its got some bend in it.
nice one Rich.

I hope to spend a couple of hours on the bank tomorrow pm. It's good to see so many putting in the hours in the hope of catching the wily old bertie.
2party - thanks for taking my post in the manner it was intended. Caught any more since your initial blitz?
Dave, I'm going to give the spicy chicken boilies a go. Do you loose feed with them? Good luck all..... |
