I didn't fish but went over the river today as my mate was fishing near Thatcham so I popped along to see how he was doing, he had 1 nice barb 11lb 2oz.
Whilst there I took a temp reading which was 9 (48) and the river is up and nicely coloured, it looked good to me but no one else on the venue had anything. |

Happy New Year | ||

Hi all,
I havent been on here lately it to be honest havent been down the river in a few months. Looking to get back on it for the last 3rd of the season only had the 1 fish all year part of the reason I havent been in a while so if ant 1 can point me in a good direction for some barbel and chub action I have both a RDaA and a Cemex Burghfield River permit. I'm also thinking of fishing 1 rod for Perch as well. So if any one can help me Id be most happy. Thanks and happy new year Rich It's funny how we don't sell guns but Toronto bangs! |

Rich. This time of the season the canal sections often start to produce. If you are also planning to perch I reckon Ufton is your best bet.
Good Luck Graham

Hi Folks
Me and my mate had an afternoon session yesterday (Saturday) near Thatcham. As can be expected the river was well in flood, a couple of feet up and very coloured. The water temp yesterday was 6.8 (44). Despite feeling really confidant we both blanked. There were a few other anglers fishing the venue but only one 6lb fish had come out. Cheers |

fished LB today. High and coloured (up 15-18 inches at least on normal summer level), water racing through lots of leaf, 45f (7.6c) and rising very slowly
through the day....blanked.....

Fished Warren yesterday. River high and some banks flooded. Fished bread most of the day in a number of swims, hoping for chub, with no action. Changed to meat
at 4 pm and immediately into an 11 pound barbel in fine nick although almost silver in colour, then another much smaller. Bites a lot more delicate than usual.

Yeah, I am working in Reading Centre at the moment right next to the river and it was less than a foot from the top of the canalised bank in the town next to
Queens Road car park , it was belting through and a very muddy brown colour.
I am going to be working there for around 3 weeks so I will take a water temp reading a couple of times every day and post it up, should be usefull to get a couple of readings per day from the same spot posted up here. Cheers Kevin |
