Posts: 3 (10/11/07 18:04) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None Hi I am hoping to find a place to stay for a weekend around Bewdley in Worcestershire. to fish the River severn.....I am taking a 70 year old ..semi disabled chap...so I need to get the car fairly near the swim........also any recomended places to stay..ie a short walk to the pub....I dont drink and drive. Any help would be appreciated..............Oh just to mention the old chap.....has fished for over 50 years.......and has taken a 48lbs Carp from Chanteqouc in France......so he is no mug......just has differculty in walking these days. Thanks

Posts: 117 (11/11/07 12:01) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Hiya BMWman, The Severn Arms Hotel is a great place to stay in Bridgnorth, which is only about 10 miles upstream of Bewdley - have stayed here myself too many times to recall.. The fishing is spectacular in this area, with some wonderful stretches controlled by Bridgnorth AC - a season ticket is only about £40, with 5.5 miles of one bank fishing. Also Birmingham Angling Association have many stretches of water in this area with a year long ticket - Jan - Dec costing about £30 again great value. Posts: 949 (11/11/07 12:32) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Hiya BMWman, Getting somewhere with short walks to the river is not easy on that part of the Severn. A Bridgnorth AC card is worth enquiring about if you can get access to drive your car along the disused railway track otherwise forget it. I would have thought you wouldn't get too much trouble getting a permit for the track though, not sure what the rules are up there anymore? There are some good swims very close to the track although you would have to go over a stile. BAA is pretty well all killer walks in that area. If you decide on a Bridgnorth card then you might also want to consider staying further upstream in Ironbridge, some nicer pubs than Bridgnorth IMO. Check that there are no matches for the period you want to go. Cheers Paul

Kinver freeliners stretch on the opposite bank , but upstream has good parking , and you aint far from some good swims , sure scubasteve could help there .Bullshead at chelmarsh is a b+ b , right in amongst the barbel ally. http://www.bullsheadchelmarsh.co.uk/. Very large average size of fish for the middle severn (i've never had anything under 7lb from there) but not prolific in terms of numbers in comparison to some of the better known areas. hatterbarbel, can you get tickets for the meadows on the bank? or do they have to be bought in advance? Not been this season , but you go down to the house , bear right and go round the back and park down by the fence .The river is just over it . Lots of fish on this short bit , opposite trimply baa , but rare to get anyone opposite. What I normaly do is go down the day / eve before to make sure its ok , then they know you are turning up .Worth a chat as well , as he puts you on the fish / swims that are doing ok . For the fishing you can take the car down to the Arley footbridge and park almost on the river. And in the summer drive all along the water front. GOOD fishing too. Hope it gives you a thought.

We book the 16th of June for a week, got soaked inside and out this year. Worst weather in 15 years on the Severn. Interested to see which swims you prefer, PM me please we could swap info. Doug

Posts: 262 (15/11/07 23:18) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Mole cant agree on the beer the landlord cant keep beer to save his life often tastes of cleaning fluid, food thats another matter very very good worst weather in 15 years, the storm of the 19th of June this year was the worst on record for the area, ask the severn valley railway repair costs now around 2.5 miliion i think and not expected to be fully working until well into next year. Borle brook which enters the severn near stanley was recorded at 30foot above normal level
