They certainly look the part, no test curve rating, but i would guess about 1 1/2 pounds.
Cant wait for some milder/wet weather now to try them out.
They will be replacing my Shimano Antares Specialist 12' 1.6 lb test curves.
Regards John.

I know a few who have bought the float rods and the guys love them. Quite pricey at nearly £300 but they look great and are very, very light.
Davis tackle has a good selection of them at present. |

Jesus H Christ! 300 quid for a rod that doesn't even have triple leg guides.. They are having a laugh. If I was spending £300 on a rod it wouldn't be
on one of those.

Make you right Chubbster. Triple leg guides are a must on a rod that price - or any rod really the single leg rings are to vulnerable.
Would rather spend my money on having a BFW rod built for me to my spec. Doubt it would come to that much but if it did it would be built to my liking. |

I bet the rods are being built by cheap labour for less than £40 each including any export & import charges. Just because a blank is light dosn't mean
they are any good. They think that by sticking the name Hardy on a mas produced blank they can charge people anything they want for it. They are just jumping
on the bandwagon I'm afraid.

Am a little suprised to see such a well known brand get this sort of panning, as thought they were pretty good, so i live and learn. Most of my rods are fitted
with single leg guides,Cept perhaps my 15ft harrison Gti,but have to say never had a problem with em.............yet, touch wood.
Anyone know if, Bruce & Walker rods are ok,as waiting for an 11ft avon to arrive, and know little about the company, but was struggling to find,a 1.2 test curve rod for chub, and opted for a BW one,but got it cheaper than cost price. Howard |

i was speaking to one angler who had a custom made bruce and walker rod from harefield tackle,he said it was the best rod he had ever used....i've never
used one.

The reason they fit single leg guides is to keep costs down and no other reason, they will tell you that it improves action or it keeps the weight down but all
they are doing is pulling the wool over their customers eyes. Ask any good rod builder. I'm not slating the Hardy rod I did give one a waggle in the shop
but when I saw the price I was disgusted. At first glance to me it was worth £120 max. If you have money to burn then go and get one but I'll bet anyone a
pound to a piece of plop that they is not much difference between them and a any other Barbel rod built on a mass produced far Eastern blank. For £300 You
could get a reputable builder like Dave Lump to build you anything you like on a British blank, they would even put your name on it if you want. Then you Can
sit on the River in the warm glow knowing that you've help support British industry. Now how much is that worth?

Have you guys that are slating them even used them? As far as I'm concerned, they are among the best mass produced rods out there, though I personally
think that they are a bit overpriced, knock £100 off and that would be a steal. I had a go with the rods (the float rods and quiver rods) just before they came
out and have to say that I was impressed - very sensitive with a great amount of feel, plus they are light enough to hold all day.
As for this guff about single legged rings, I would always opt for triple/double legged guides on a barbel rod, but not on a float rod. Believe it or not, singles do make it that bit lighter and they do affect the action - this has been said numerous times, remember, the legs on the guides act almost as a splint, so to speak, so the guide used will have a bearing on the rods action. Unless I could get one cheap, I can't afford to shell out over £300, but anyone who does wont be disapointed. |

I said I'm not slating the rod. I'm slating the price they are asking for what is clearly a mass produced rod.
John, please don't take my comments the wrong way. You've got a pair of rods that will undoubtedly give you years of great pleasure & that Hardy glow. I just think you've payed a little to much for them, but thats, just my personal opinion. Now get out there and get em dirty. |

Can't understand all this Bluster about single leg rings, ALL my light rods have singles on them , they live made up in slings and i never have a problem
with them, personally i don't like the 'FEEL' of double leg rings on light rods, so i don't have em !

Hey Si - you alright fella?
Not done as much fishing as I'd like to have (as usual!), though I did a bit on the H.Avon whilst I was working there and managed a few barbel to 10.15, along with a trip to the Test where I managed a load of grayling (nowt big) and hundreds of trout - I've never caught so many in my life! Got a few plans for some big river roach soon, though I'll have to see what happens... How's your season been fishing-wise? |

If Hardy have made a marketing error then the rods will start appearing at much reduced prices next year. That may or may not be a problem for Hardy only time
will tell.Quite why anyone should get all hot under the collar about it is beyond me. It is not like there is no choice out there. No one is forcing anyone to
buy these rods,it is personal choice.Agree with His Miz re singles too, never had a problem with singles be that on factory or custom build rods.Enjoy your
rods John.

I don't think charging 300 quid for a Mas-produced rod could be classed as a "marketing error".

hi,yes ive had a play with them, but most of all the thing that impressed me was the colour of them,
just like a reed sticking out over the river, being as mine are both martin bowler rods[brown colour] i wont be forking out £300 to change the colour. |
