Posts: 90 Oct 13 07 10:18 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None or maybe not,,, only time will tell Ok so I went onlong to the the tackle trade ex at coventry city stadium last week and some guy was floggin £90 barbel rods for a tenner, I bought one, well I had to didnt I , the rod came all tied up with blue security tags which I'm not to remove till I get out of the sale rooms (suspition grows). but what the hell Its only a tenner right. So I arived home some hours later and had a look at it and to my suprise I found what looks like a quality bit of kit, an 11 foot twin top rod with 1 avon style top and a quiver top 1.5oz and 2oz inserts. the label says Avanti Argenta. Has anyone heard of this rod, have I been done or did I get a bargain?

Posts: 912 Oct 14 07 10:40 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	When I got back into coarse fishing proper after a few years exclusively fluff-chucking I bought a feeder road off eBay for £9.99 as my coarse tackle was somewhat lacking in the ledgering department. It landed quite a few barbel and chub and never let me down. I since have invested in a Shimano outfit and the FTD rod and fourteen quid Okuma outfit is in the wardrobe in our apartment in Cyprus. It still pulls in carp and catfish well into double figures on our forays over there. If it does the job, then its worth the money.

Posts: 2991 Oct 14 07 11:36 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I recently purchased an Okuma Haunt rod. It is a 12ft two piecer. It comes with two tops, one is an avon 1.75 and the other takes quivertips,3 supplied with it. I bought it because of the battering my Mark tunleys where getting and so needed a cheap rod that could be given a bit of rough usage in awkward swims etc. Up to now I have landed 21 Barbel on the rod without a single feeling that the rod wouldn't handle it. Biggest up tp now is 9lbs 9, and it coped with it very well. Don't know how it will go if I get a biggy on it or how long it will last me, only time will tell. I paid £35 for it, absolute bargain thus far. Rayo

He was testing a multi tip feeder rod and said it performed very well especially with a decent tench. He caught as many as someone fishing next to him, who was using an expensive pole. He wasn't looking forward to it, as he was expecting one of those kids blister pack jobs, but was pleasantly surprised. It's maybe on my shopping list for my youngest son, so any feedback will be gratefully received. I still have my first fibre glass feeder rod, that caught barbel to 7lb, and would have no problems using it again. Whether it would cope with a good double I don't know! Keith

Posts: 973 Oct 14 07 4:08 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I have the pantera barbel rods from them and very good rods they are ,the Argenta are made from the same carbon / fibre glass composite ,basically you get the best of both worlds ,you get the strength of the carbon weave plus the flexability of the fibre glass x-weave .ok you sacrifice a bit mainly in diameter and overall lightness but you get a very flexable rod that can take a bit abuse . I think the Argenta is a 1.5lb tc ? .the Argenta would make a nice roving rod / small river rod ,the only thing i don't like is the eva foam handles ,as i prefer cork ,if i wanted a spare/loaner then i wouldn't hesitate to buy one. steve I try to be funny... but sometimes I merely look it

Someone was looking at the match rod and asked her for a price for all 3. I just give her the tenner and picked the rod up and walked.

Only people who know nothing about motors would make a cheap crack. Just shows their ignorance. 4grand less than a Passat a lot less than an Audi. And more room than an A3. German engineering at a bargain price. Made in the same factory as all the VW Polos anyway. 60 to the gallon and very reliable and well put together. Just can't understand why everyone buys crappy Astras and Focus's. Bill

Skodas are OK NOW, as they are made by Volkswagen, so quality is better. Keith

It's a funny coincidence reading your message this evening, only this afternoon I bought my son the Avanti Argenta 10ft multi-feeder rod from " Used Tackle ", in fact my lad's playing with the rod in the kitchen as I write this message, he's chuffed with it. I have to hold my hand up and admit I'm a bit of a tackle tart, but for £14.99 that rod will catch just as much as my favourite 13ft feeder rod in the tight swims where we've been fishing locally. I have to drive back to Used Tackle tomorrow and buy 3 more, my eldest son wants one, a friends son wants one, but I dare'nt admit who'll probably use the other one . Darran
