A little tip for backleads is to make them out of lead wire, I use plumbers solder.
Just wind it around a pencil As long as you need it then pull slightly until you have a tight'ish spiral.
After you have cast out you can then put the back lead on by winding it around the line at the top of your rod and letting it slide down to where you want it.
I expect that I am not the only one that has thought of it, but it is quite effective.

PS don't forget that if using, you have to put a bead on the other side of your rig to catch it.
