Posts: 574 (30/08/06 20:29) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None Hi, I've been thinking about having a go on the Swale (my usual barbelling haunts are the Nidd and Yorkshire Ouse) and even got as far as taking a walk around some likely looking spots. Then I hear that someone's had a 12 pounder out of the very stretch I was considering. So, that area will be swarming with anglers from miles around for a while! Next, I was talking to a mate about possibly having a session on the Trent as it's only an hour or so away. Then I read reports (rumours?) on BFW of a monstrous 23 pounder out of the Trent. I expect the Trent will be even busier now. Will you guys stop catching big fish on the rivers I'm thinking about fishing?!!!!! R.

I rarely use above 1.5 oz. and I mostly fish where the Trent is very fast. I wish people would stop thinking that the Trent is a venue on which to use 'carp tactics'. Cahal

If you can hold bottom where you're fishing with < 1.5oz, then great. I've found that in the stretches of the Yorkshire Ouse where I fish, I need heavy weights to hold bottom - especially when the river is running above summer levels. I've not fished the Trent, but I've heard that it's a big, fast river. Hence my belief that I'll neeed heavy leads. If I find that 1.5oz will do, then great! R.
