I am writing on this thread as this is where I have noticed the problem. Would people please stop posting using text style abbreviations. There are several examples of this on this site at the moment & I personally find it very annoying. I am writing this in the hope that others also consider it bad form and agree with me that it should cease. What do you think? Is it just me? Bob

Text style abbreviations a tad annoying I admit, but as far as punctuation, grammar or spelling goes, we have to remember all ages and abilities post here... It would be better for all if we just read them in the way they were intended with the best intentions. Now, IMO I am not having a go at anyone, it took me a while to pluck up the courage to ask what IMO ment but hey if you are not that good a typing or spelling if it helps to shorten it, what's the problem. Relax, think happy thoughts and enjoy the site.

It is a idle way of getting round our language and was designed as a time saver. Dyslexia is something quite different and I would have thought easy to differentiate fom the above. Surely if you (not you personaly) are lucky enough to be well versed then you can get around the problem of poor English or computer language. Just reminded me, the spellcheck used to work on this site and most of the messages were nearly all correct spelling wise in those days.

I agree with you but there are a lot of very sensitive people on here who take offence easily, almost as if they want to be offended, do you know what I mean? There was a bloke some time back who used no upper or lower case and hardly any punctuation. It was difficult reading and like the tw*t I am I had a gentle go at him. Sods law he turned out to be dyslexic! Quite a few people had a right go at me for this and I think I was sent to the computer equivolent of coventry. I couldn't be bothered at the time but surely there is a major difference between a bit of mick taking and having a go at someone who is dyslexic. I would never want to offend anybody with any disability but had it been me I would have taken it like a man. Martin

I was always taught by my father "that if a job's not worth doing properly, it's not worth doing at all." (often accompanied by a now outlawed clip round the ear) That applies equally well to posting's. For example. IMHO. Does it mean "In my honest opinion" or "In my humble opinion." On second thought's it must be honest or does anyone out there actually know a humble poster. Apart from BTBM that is. Cheers Bob
