I have been looking through Ebay and other web sites but all the Reels i have seen within my budget of £50-£60 are more for Carp than Barbel. Can anyone give me some suggestions as to which Reel I should buy? I think I have decided to get a Shimano but which one i have no idea. Thanks Colin ps Sorry to start another which Reel thread, but i always find this site the best source of knowledge available.

It's been said many times on threads here over the past few months, but this reel is bullet proof, has a watchmaker-like clutch, and if you hunt around can be had for considerably less that the 95 quid price tag (i.e. within your budget). Okuma are worth looking at too if you want zillions of ball-bearings at a low-ish price. The Epix Pro is a good bet. Maver Tica Sportera is another make/model worth considering. Both Daiwa BRi Baitrunners and the Shimano Aero (rear-drag) baitrunners are also worth a look and there are good deals to be had. I'm sure others will add other models or makes - but, as I say, if i had to choose one (and I've tried many) the Shimano 3500b would be top of the list. It will last forever and is lovely to use.

Posts: 432 (30/04/08 18:53) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Colin, if you want/need a baitrunner, the 3500b, if you can find a good one, if not ,look at the reels with the fightin-lever on the drag, superGTM-RB, superGT-RB, both excellent, the drags are really smooth and precise, should be able to find either within your budget, and the drag lever allows you to use it like a BR, if you want to. Both are probably better reels than any of the cheaper baitrunners, and more reliable! Peter
