Hi Nigel,
you're surely not suggesting that the Crouch is a "starter" centrepin! IMO it's among the best you can get...it just happens to be bargain priced compared to some of the rip off stuff around. regards, Butdim |

I have a Aerodex, no problems with it. It's miles better than my Shakspear Golden Eagle which is horible.

All very well this advice to look for Speedias and stuff at car boot sales or on ebay, but if you want to get a c'pin and you have a budget of £100 tops, then go for an Okuma Aventa Pro for £70-80, else you'll wait around for a bargain that may never materialise.
I use and prefer Aerials myself, but have an Okuma also and it's very good for the price. I know someone with two TFG c'pins (for barbel) and he reckons there worth having (otherwise he wouldn't have bought a second one paul4 ps. My post was cut/pasted from a previous c'pin thread recently on the boards |

Hi butdim
Why go for a cheaper pin when you can buy a good one like the FRED CROUCH MATCH AERIAL CENTREPIN at a great price. Like you say why get ripped off I love it and it will last you a life time and why buy a starter pin like it and then spend more money to get a better one. Tight Lines and Happy Barbel Fishing. rant-thang about an Aventa Pro ball-bearing jobbie, the bronze one, available even on Ebay (which They shouldn't look at, cos the smart-tackle sharks are stalking it for stuff that people like Them shouldn't even get to know about, or they might get ideas above their Angling Station...), at rather less than retail price...?"
The Aventa, it is then. You can faff about later for Airhead Aerials etc, nice as some of them can be (though others are most distinctly not). Ho hum. Swim heavily baited with some brilliant non-standard stuff, two days running. D Day tomorrow. Bed. |
