Walking the banks, mapping out swims, studying the natural world and the river/s that run through it without the burden of expectation, just the calm of a
higher affinity. Oh and a bit of bass fishing

I'll give it a break for a month or so to do some jobs around the house then try my luck on the stillwaters until I can get back on the rivers.
We all need a break eh.... |

My season has already ended. My gear is cleaned and sorted. I don't fish for anything but barbel (in rivers of course). Don't go near the river : 150
mile, 250 mile, 300 mile, round trips to my normal haunts anyway.
I love DIY and in fact have my own part-time business as decorator and handyman, so no need to please the missus. I just wait until June and it goes quick enough paul4 |

Hi All
Just to say after the 14th of march my rods go away. Get the odd jobs up together around the house and the few trips to my local fish spotting I may sound old fashion to many.but love the close season and the break and may it never change on the Rivers. Getting the kit up together ,the odd bits and pieces tackle and bait , reloading the reels with new line. Ready for that Magic Day June the 16th.

In the Old days of the closed season I use to go Sea Fishing and Reservior Trout Fishing, even then I did not worry about keeping the 1st wife happy !! Bob |

This year I have to do my Master's dissertation, if I haven't at least broken the back of it by June 15th then I've probably blown it - and will
have to settle for a post graduate diploma

I voted to wet a line on the stillwaters.. I may invest in a RDAA ticket and try for a big Tench or Bream . Any pointers people? Thanks Brian

A month off,
Get the veggie garden sorted. Flower borders tidied and replanted. The green house up and running. Throw some paint on the kitchen walls and ceiling. Towards the end of this month I will start arguing and snapping at 'Wifey' plus kicking the dog. I am then expelled from the 'love nest'' and forced to go Tench fishing and a bit of 'fluff flinging'. Life is a b**ch---Best wishes,----John.

For me, the serious Tinca campaign starts, will be going all out for some big Tench, if I can get through the Bream shoals that is!!!
I am actually looking forward to the warm evenings of spring dosing off behind the bite alarms while the sun sets over the lake.......... In addition I will spend some days/evenings on the local trout waters flinging fluff.

Black bream, tope, trout, and legal eel fishing on the Severn, (worms only and hooks with a half inch gape), used to be my closed season fix, these days I have
work party's, the bs conference, a week in the sun, tope and black bream, plus a bit of puddle fishing if I can fit it in.

May, on an old quarry nearby is best tench month by a distance. Do a bit of roach + bream fishing on the canal. Don,t like the commercials but always end up
doing a few days here and there on one somewhere. Miss the old close season but can,t help but wet a line.--Harry.
