I'm very local (less than 100 yards!!!) and am told there's a 7 year waiting list..... I'm sure there must be ways in but in the end, a lake is
just a big goldfish pond...... viva la river!!

Fisheries, Con. Club, Colne Valley Consultative, sundry bits of Harrow ... I lost track of all the names (I've never been good with names; pretty faces, though...). So I did (talk to them). They appeared to like what I had to say. Sure they'd've wanted me "In", if I had so much as mentioned Membership. But I didn't, however: too busy going fishing, back then. Still am. I sat upon the shore

Its a club water not a syndicate and there is no way of jumping the waiting list unless you are closely related to an existing member.
The waters around that area are mainly clubs rather than expensive syndicates and most have publicity bans, so you tend to avoid people joining just to catch big fish and get in mags. I wouldn't advise contacting the secretary directly as this could lead to you being blacklisted, you need to be proposed by an existing member who can get an application form for you. |

No problem Dave,
Just had my best mahseer trip ever, landed 39 fish up to 52 lb - a new PB - and had a few other 30s as well. Would definitely recommend it, and where i go down south on the Cauvery River you have a very good chance of catching, even if you don't get a big one. I'll be back up in the Himalayas later this year - either the Kali or Ramganga - would love to get a big one up there on the lures, would be a real achievement these days. My last trip to the Himalayas only produced fish to 10 lb, but was pleased with them as so much work went into catching. There are some other better tench waters in the Colne Valley. It's worth joining the British Carp Study Group if you can, they have one very good water. |
