Has any one used this line, i just got a new reel and i had a free spool a couple of months ago, it claims to be highly abrasion resistant and super strong, but the overall diamater is thinner than most monos.

After a recommendation on BFW, I got some and have to say, I love the stuff, for hooklengths and mainline!
Not sure how the diameter compares, havent looked, but its very tough and hard to see as an added bonus. Cant rate it highly enough |

BIG thumbs up from me. Been using it for a year now since getting a freebie spool with some new Hall mag. Taken me a lot of fish (including two baby barbs - c. 2.75 and 3 or so - just today), never let me down. Good line.

Yes i find this pretty good, as well as the power plus, they do a power match. I have been trying both. I wanted to lose diameter but keep strength. So far, touch wood, no problems.
Definately worth a go. Michael |

Re: Ultima power plus | ||

I've used it all season and it seems to be good. I must admit that when I've caught fish in the floods I've had to strip back a yard or two of line because it has suffered some abrasion. This might sound a little alarming but the flood fish I've caught fought incredibly hard and really held on to the bottom, causing the abrasion. So I think it's well worth it, in fact I've bought bulk spools on ebay.

Probably should post this on the other species thread but I really rate red label Ultima Xtreme? for my grayling fishing on the float.

Same as Paul Boote, got a free spool last season (threw the Mag away) and its probably my fave hooklength material at present. Landed me a fair few kippers!!

i too have been using this line on most of my reels in verious B/S 2x 12lb for my heavy barbel fishing reels and 8lb & 10lb on my light reel (took advantage of the vouchers in TFC mag ) to stock up a bit .never let me down yet , even when snagged in the side rocks at collingham wasnt easily broke (had to do the old walking backwards thing , with the rod tip low) ,not the only thing to creep up the bank that day (water level rose up quite a bit , to within a couple of feet of my tent thingy)

I hadn't heard of that, but Ultima Xtra was my favourite until it disappeared off the shelves, so I'll be looking out for this one.

After some recommendations on here I've been using it when mono hooklengths are needed. No problems at all. If it was more buoyant I'd use it for floater hooklengths for carp, the ultimate test of the invisibility/strength balance.I like it very much.

Re: Ultima power plus | ||

i was considering it for float carp fishing too until i read that it was fast sinking
but i think i will spool the spare spool up with this stuff and use it when i need the heavier line, dont think im going to use it all the time theres no need. 10lb should be plenty any one had any problems with knots and knot strength? Dave |

Steve,
Thanks for that. I shall be investigating, it looks to be just what's needed especially with the anti twist profile. I have been using Reflo Powerline and if it's better than that I'll be well pleased. Simon. |

Davemm,
My reels are spooled with 8lb and 12lb Technium and I carry 100m spools of the PP in 8,10,12,15 lb bs for hooklengths, just the job! 8lb main+ 8lb hooklength for maggot feeder upto 12lb main + 15lb hooklength for s*** or bust situations. Simon |
