The other day whilst float fishing at a Commercial water, I got talking to an Angler about internet sites.
His opinion of most open sites are different from mine and said he felt that a lot of harm came from open sites where anyone has free reign to abuse or disagree with other posters.
I expressed the opinion, that many Barbel site users get far to precious about the way to fish for Barbel ?
He thought it was interesting that an outsider saw it that way and although our opinions differed we had a friendly debate about the subject.
Over the Years I have fished for Barbel using a varity of methods, anything from Trotting, Trundling Meat, Up-stream legering and touch legering.
Now I'm getting older and I'm far less mobile that a few years ago, I tend to fish static Baits on Bolt rigs and buzzers.
Does this make me a lesser angler ?
Sometimes I feel like it does on Open Barbel Sites, having said that; I have Moderated a Big Carp Open Site for over 5 years and there have been lots of heated differing opinions.
Good Moderation, love it or hate is there for a reason, it helps to control controversial threads, before accusation get out of hand.
Could the Angler I met on the Bank be correct in his opinion, that websites are the cause of far to much discord within Barbel Fishing and for that matter, between different angling groups ?
