Posts: 196 (09/02/07 01:08) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None third time I have typed this!!! lost twice so far. what do I go for: greys prodigy 1.5 barbel twin tip? or greys x-flite 1.5/1.75? or prodigy 1.5 + prodigy 1.75? I fish the medway in kent, a small river that contains some decent fish. I am not just into barbel, but anything decent that eats worms for breakfast. I'd rather not spend more than I really need to, but I don't want to go half-cocked. I cannot justify a better quality rod, as limited experience and size 12 feet would doom it within weeks. effectively with the x-flite you are paying £70 extra for one more top section. is the rod that much better than the prodigy? can you recommend a fixed spool reel to match the rod? budget around £40, maybe a little more. nothing recent or definitives on the faq's that I can find. your wisdom appreciated. dan

Posts: 1301 (09/02/07 01:26) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Can I throw another one or two in the works Greys Specialist at about £90 - the 1.25 Top gives you a Chub and Barbel rod. - the 1.75 will cope with big water and snaggier stretches But no Quiver Or look to the offers about on the TFG range the 12ft 1.25 or 1.5 Signature Quiver and Avon top at £50! see: www.tacklebargains.co.uk/ They also do the John Wilson Signature Avon for £70 but I know nothing about that other than it tries to meet many aims. Both the Greys and the TFGs get good reviews and for £50 I cannot find a better deal than the TFG Signature series. As for reels for that money look for an Okuma Epix Pro 40 without the baitrunner and pay a bit more for the Baitrunner facility if needed. -- Dr Barbus There's a world of difference between waiting and sitting.

Posts: 367 (09/02/07 02:03) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	If you're not just into Barbel and if you don't quiver tip favouring an isotope as adequate bite indication and for around that price range I would be looking at the Prodigy Specimen www.greysfishing.com or the Korum Neoteric 12' Twin Tip www.korum.co.uk/ Both i'd say are versatile.

Posts: 196 (09/02/07 02:32) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	just when you think you've narrowed it down.... looking at the greys website,they now charge £25 per section per claim, which when you look at total number of sections per rod is not all that far off full price, you may as well have a second rod for spares! at least you can fish both then. thanks for your input guys. if anyone can feedback on the x-flite, I'd be grateful.

In the barbel range the Xflite does seem nicer. I am biased though,the Korum twin tips are terrific and better than both. Pons.

If I was re-buying I would probably look for something with 1 1/2 & 2 lb top sections with no quiver option. Can't fault them in fish playing terms

At the risk of boring you all, would you say that there is enough difference between, say, a 1.5 and a 1.75 tip (or 1.25 and 1.5) to merit having both? or is a gap of 0.5 more useful, e.g. 1.5 + 2.0, or 1.25 + 1.75? No doubt if money is no object, you have the lot. for most of us, definitely inc me, wedge is limited. hence I am anxious to make a good choice. your help (and patience) appreciated. dan

Out of interest did it come complete with the guarentee card?
