Well as the 2005/2006 season slowly draws to an end many of you will be thinking of one last big fish, some will be thinking of the new season to come and no doubt planning the down fall of some as yet un-caught monsters but I thought it might be nice to reminisce on some of the highlights of the season. My highlight of the season, was the 20th of July, (my birthday) when I was lucky enough to capture 2 double figure barbel from my beloved river Tees in the space of 30mins after nearly 18 months of trying and failing. That one brief 30 minute spell left me completely speechless and made all those hundreds of bite less hours and numerous chub all worth while. It also reminded me of why I have such great respect for these fantastic fish, there un-matched fighting qualities, there magnificent presence and there fragility. River Tees Barbel have been an enigma for me for a long time and now I feel like I am slowly starting to build up a picture of what is going on down there, I guess thats my second highlight of the season, a greater knowledge and understanding of these fish, which is a large part down to the members of this site, that have generously helped me in the past and of course me old mates Chech and Mookie who force me to go fishing even when I cant be arsed, only cause there scared of the dark me thinks.
So what are your highlight ??? |

Hi
Highlights for me have got to be my first Wensum barbel and my PB chub - my best season for chub!! Also, really enjoyed my trips to the teme - especially when i caught using a new method for me - rolling meat. Targets for next have to be a biggie from the wensum and an even bigger chub! Respect.... |

My highlights have been. Finding my own barbel mecca. Catching 8 doubles to 14lb from this spot and generally every moment in the summer sun on the bank. I Love It.

Last September (I think), Lower Severn (above Bedford!), 22 barbel in one session, smallest 5lbs7oz, biggest 10lb14oz.
Last July, Teme, very low and clear and blinding sunshine all day, 12 barbel banked, all in daylight hours, all from the same swim (all other swims occupied - was a nice day for it!), smallest 5lb0oz, biggest 9lb12oz. NEXT SEASON - BRING IT ON!!! ATB Mark. |
