I have some places in mind, one specimen was spotted having a mooch around in a back brook; plus there are all the tackle shop "they do say..." & "down at mill..." stories to investigate.
Tight Lines "Neners" this year we will prove there in there! |

John,
It just so happens a little birdie told me of another stretch with good barbel in it, unfished at the moment. Basemix will be made in the next week, don't think I'm going to deploy the prebaiting tactic until later in the season.........say September as having thought about it a great deal more i don't see the need. It's the winter months i want the fish to be switched onto my bait as i honestly believe they will take anything at the start of the season. I'm off work until beginning of July so PM when you plan on going and I'll see if i can pop down and chew the fat. Best wishes all Nene anglers, I for one am certainly looking for a very good season. Hi guys,
Can't wait to get started. Not had much luck with the tench so far this year.So a change of species will be great. I see that Wellingborough club have another stretch of the Ouse at Harrold bridge.Anybody fished this before?Any info would be great. Anyway, best of luck to you all.And Bob,hope your back is better in time to catch that new river record. Cheers,Nige |

Nige, hey this is good 4 posts into the Nene thread and we're discussing the Grt Ouse! The Chellington is OK, it does have boris I have seen them just not hooked them but most of my time was spent hunting the Nene. If you do go to Harrold beware of the cattle and the space between the edge of the bank and the fence is only 3 foot max. Probably see at "the complex" sometime soon and we can chat about all the W&DAC waters.

Middle Nene (Billing to Thrapston) on Flood Watch. Upper Nene (Daventry to N'pton) on Flood Watch. River Ise on Flood Watch. Alledge Brook on Flood Watch. I guess Harpers Brook and the Brouncy will have a good flow on them too.
Had a look this morning at Irthlingborough from the road bridge on way to work looked to have almost a foot on what it was yesterday. Flowing quite fast and strong under the pack bridge, had a bit of colour. As regulars will know this is not perfect Nene conditions Definately need our wellies lads and lasses! |

This is the second flood in the spawning season, lets just hope we have'nt lost a generation of fish. Bob |

Still tanking through at Ditchford Bridge this evening. Down a foot or so from Saturday I'd guesstimate.

Result !! Absolutely tanking through but managed 3 bream, the biggest about 7lb and a lovely bronzie about 5lb. Then the rod keeled over and a scamp of about 5 1/2 to 6lb gave me probably one of the best fights ever from a barbel, just goes to show what they can do when they go with current. 10lb line with the clutch set pretty tight and it stripped line like a 20lb carp, awesome.

Well done Bob, a result, the most i have managed from any river is to walk along it at the moment, still plenty of time left yet.
