Re: Re:First time LSAS Visit | ||

My club book arrived this morning, so I'm wondering if the levels are reasonable enough to try on Thursday
I've read a lot about the Abbey, Bonsors and Osiers stretches on this site in previous seasons and how good they are, but am not sure which to try first. Has anyone been out yet? Any recommendations would be most welcome Regards Roger |

There supposedly is a good stretch on the LEVAS ticket, never fished there but looked round and it looks very nice.

Well, I was contemplating a visit to The Abbey today.
Perhaps I'd best not wear anything red!!! I'll go and have look anyway, because he might not "give a toss" if I'm there Wish me luck! Regards Roger PS Hope he doesn't try any bully boy tactics |

Roger - reminds me of the story of two guys who were going to a fancy dress party dressed as a pantomime cow. They decided to take a short cut across a field and halfway across the bloke at the back said: 'There's a b great bull in this field and I think it's coming this way - what shall we do?'
His mate at the front said: "I'm going to bend down and eat some grass - you'd better brace yourself!' |

Well, despite the "BULL IN FIELD" sign, I did venture on the LSAS stretch "nr Cotes Mill" last night from about 5.00 'til 12.30pm.
Fortunately I managed to survive the evening without being 'gored' I suppose what didn't help were the stop/start showers, which influenced me to stay put (and dry!) in just two likely-looking swims, instead of my original planned roving approach to search the bank more frequently. Anyway, that's now my third trip since June 16 to three different venues with a total of fifteen barbel and no blanks, blimey Regards Roger ps If the weather/water levels allow I hope to try another visit to the Ivel next week (my previous attempts late last season were fruitless |

Re: Flood Conditions | ||

Despite bank-high levels, I managed to wet a line in barely fishable conditions "nr. Cotes Mill" last night,and although they came quite late on ( I started at around 6.00pm) I actually banked a couple of nice barbs: one of 5lb 12 oz at about 11.00pm (Elips pellets) and a better stamp of fish at exactly 8.00lb., also on Elips, just on midnight
Having (somewhat optimistically)envisaged getting on The Trent at Thrumpton ( then phoning Muskham, as well as Cromwell Lock) to learn what unfishable raging torrents there were Cheers Roger |
