River is spot on. Up and a little coloured. Fish were feeding from Midnight until I had to go at 6:30. Prebaited 4 swims and had many really strong line bites in each, these were confident fish. Managed only two from 3 bites maybe due to overdoing the prebait and pre-occupying the bleeders.
If you've access to the Wey go today !!!!! Such a contrast from early last season. John |

Friday 28th 15:45-Saturday 29th 06:00
River lower still this week yet its still quite coloured. No activity untill 21:30 when someone nicked my after dark prebaited swim !!! Managed an 8:11 at 10pm. Some activity up until 2Am when the moon rose, the mist came up and the temp dived.....Left at 6AM after trying 4-5 swims with no other fish but frozen solid. The chap who happened upon my swim had two low 8s. He had to go home early, poor thing, as he had his wife got locked out. So some feeling of justice....... Another 8:8 came out to one of the bailiffs who left at 11:30. John |

Terree....come on...what about ESP....
Definately no hard feelings and all meant tongue in cheek mate.... And I didn't really mean it when I said it was mine.....I'd baited 3 others and expected to not fish the lot. Mind you you should have picked the one that didn't have fish in it...Only polite I think .... Good Luck John |

Had three Boris 5 1/4, 8 1/4, 5 1/4 plus one broken rod. The Barbel were right in amongest the streamers. Missed three good bites as well as quite hard to hit. Both 5's in perfect condition with not a blemish in sight. The 8 was also perfect apart from one split fin. Was not much longer than the fives but had a big belly Does this count as a mutiple catch?? |

Kieran, for the Wey three fish is bagging up matey.
Friday 19th 10:00 o'c-14:00 o'c. Water is very low and as clear as I have seen it. Spent most of the time trying to spot fish and little time fishing. Not supprissingly no fish graced my net. Sad point is the stretch I was on was under survey by Bealzabab and other members of an EA crew. I do hope they don't do too much damage but judging by the copius notes they were making on a map they had several ideas as to how they could improve on this little bit of heaven. John |

Tuesday 23rd 5-10pm
Water very low and clear Fished the the shallow stearmer with only one bite which I missed. Moved to the swim below where the river narrows, a little bit deeper with a good steady flow. Caught a bream then had and absolute animal of a bite which snaped me. I was on 8lb hook length. Must have been a big Barbel!Unfortunaly had to go after that but will be back for another go as soon as poss. The friend I fish with did have a 4 3/4 Boris. What bait are you boys fishing on your strech. I am still having a few bites with meat. Is sweetcorn any good on the Wey. I had a chat with a bloje who reckons cheese baste is not bad also. |

River looks in great shape, gone down since the heavy rain on Sunday but still has a nice colour and flow. Lost one in a snag, hook pulled out of next fish just by the net but finally had a 4 1/2. Was expecting more due to the conditions |

Fished on Wednesday - 16 / 10
Water up about a foot on normal and fairly coloured. Perfect conditions I thought........ Fished from 1500 - 2000 without a bite!!! |

Fished Friday 25th 2pm - 9 pm. River rose a good foot in that time but Boris wasn't playing.
Sunday 3rd 2pm-8pm. River up a down by a foot again. Looked a picture but I just can't buy a bite lately. Four swims and not a touch......Waited all this time for rain and all its done is made the fishing harder. Is this the picture alround or just the Wey. I know its never easy but this is a joke.........I think I'll give up barbel fishing. Just don't get why I have had such a good alround season but so bloody few barbel..........Anyone want to make an offer on 2 fox Barbel plus 1.75 TC, a Seer 12'3'' 1.5 TC quiver, an Hexagraph no2 and a Drennan heavy feeder......... no fish | ||

Hello John,have only managed a couple of trips on the Wey this season (the Thames has caught my imagination this year)but the barbel certainly did`nt play ball for me either.
This seems to be reflected on the Thames ,the extra water does`nt seem to have injected any enthusiasm to the barbel on there either. Just as an aside what do you know about the barbel potential of the Wey on the stretch above Byfleet Mill to the M25? |

Re: no fish | ||
|
Sasquatch, I have fished up to the Surrey side of the M25 but not on the 'London' side upto the Mill. I know that the sections running back upstream from Wisley bridge through the golf course and on to Walsham weir contain a few fish but I haven't found them, and boy did I look. Some bits scream barbel but I never managed to winkle any out. The bits you refer to look slower and more sluggish to me so current thinking would have them capable of producing better fish but I have no knowledge of any coming from there.

wey in flood | ||

Sorry to butt into the thread. I used to fish the Wey quite a lot in the late 80's and early 90's. It never seemed to be very problematic getting fish in a flood in those days. I used to fish both above and below the M25 including some of the waters you're discussing. If anyone wants info on flood swims even though its over 5 years old send me an e-mail.
all the best, Tom |
