I know a lot of people buy and sell on eBay but personally I am opposed to it, I believe we should support our local tackle shops (and/or the BFW shop). If we don't then what will we do when they are out of business? These small shops owned by enthusiastic anglers are a valuable resource of local knowledge, not to mention bait, hooks, rods, line.....
btw I don't own or have shares in a shop and I do buy some things online just not fishing tackle. |

support your local electrical shop, your local computer shop and your local clothes shops.
it's a buyers market and you cannot blame people wanting a cheap deal. i use a few tackle shops but when you see a reel in the shop for £325 and then go to ebay and it's 50 quid cheaper, what would you do. dave.

Truthfully I would buy it from the shop where I could see it, handle it and if it falls apart after a week take it back. Pictures on the inet are misleading, right ups are not always true, parcel post is a good way of getting things smashed. Plus if you are regular and got enough front you can always get discount from your local shop, "did you know this is only £xxx up the road..."

yep,your right in one way
i would love to use the tackle shop and not bother online. as for being a regular and getting a discount, not at my tackle shop..RRP,they have to. dave.

Just bought a Wychwood Rapier Barbel Rod off ebay, new sells for about £100 got it for £52 plus postage. But the postage is £12 still a bargain but the new postage charges are having an impact.
Got a couple of bids in at the moment including Shimano reels, never can never have enough can you |

My technique is go find ur item eg rod reel e.t.c look at it in the tackle shop first then find it on ebay

for me a lot depends on the shop , i remember last yr , i went into my small local shop, spent 70 odd quid , the miserable sod behind the counter added everything up , ''that'll be £73.59p please '' !!?? thinks to myself , now if that was me behind the counter it would have been ''call it £73 '' , i agree with a lot of whats been said , but its a 2 way thing , a bit of good will back from the shops is needed
i've recentley just got 2 bargains from e bay , 2 reels on 2 seperate occasions , retail in the shops would have been around 80 or 90 quid , e bay total for 2 brand new in the box reels , £58 , shops cant compete |
