Good to read you are fine and having done well this game fishing season. I didn't actually get to have a go myself but once again thanks for the tremendous advice you gave me.

I'm taking "Billy Barb" out fishing this weekend for a type of "Trent tutorial" where I'm hoping he catches a few fish. You never know, he might even get a PB if the Gods are with us. Doing well thank you very much. Hope you're the same. Still recovering from a summer and early autumn spent mainly night fly fishing for salmon on the Severn or shooting over the mountains to Wales to do the same for the sewin. Been out a bit over the last few weeks with my barbel hat on, but mainly sitting behind mates mumbling platitudes and doing a bad impersonation of a ghillie.

You will of course know that "I know" you wouldn't be heaping it in like that if it was purchased from Bill! I buy my GLM from a pharmaceutical company that manages to get it for me in 5 kilo boxes. I could if I wanted buy it in 20 kilo units but 5 kilos lasts me a very long time indeed. It comes like most of the other concentrated powders imported into the UK with an H&S data sheet. In my opinion, location remains the “massive” overriding factor to catching barbel in the colder winter months. Get that right and you'll catch fish on just about anything edible.

If GLM is indeed Green Lipped Mussel powder Tom at 10 teaspoons a kilo then Bill Cottam will be rubbing his hands like an Eskimo standing naked outside his igloo!

Tom, when you talk about shovelling in loads of GLM, what kind of levels are you talking about? Also, did you find you had to have a good source of GLM? When I've used it in the past I've found that there is quite a difference in the quality available.

Not sure about pineapple for barbel. I think I read somewhere on here that pineapple boilies were useless for the barbs. I'm sure someone will enlighten me though.
