Everybody's favourite Barbel Pellet the Elips, are actually surplus from the fish farm feed suppliers. The reason they are the shape they are, is that it causes them to sink slower in a zigzag action. As a result there is less waste through the bottom of fish farm cages, as the fish get longer to intercept them.<br>

Also the reason they stain your hands orange, is that they are full of carotene. This is used to help turn the salmon flesh a dark colour,... ]]></description>

I'm not sure it ever was proved.<br>

High oil fishmeal pellets became very effective ( I believe Premier baits were the popular ones) and widely used years ago and then this story emerged and is still repeated in many carp books.<br>

			<description><![CDATA[ One reason why Carp anglers use low oil pellets is because of a major panic in the days of the mass use of high oil fishmeal boilies when high oil baits were blamed (rightly or wrongly) for the deaths, from liver disease, of several carp.<br>
<br>
Carp will eat high oil, low oil or anything really.<br>
<br>
The reason pellets are advertised as low oil is to attract carp anglers who do not want to risk harming carp.<br>
