Hi BAF. Any plans to walk the Cherwell prior to season starting?

Would love some information on that too chaps if you didn't mind divulging it to a fellow worshipper of 'The Mighty Cherwell'. Was hoping to have go for the roach this week, as it has given the weather getting a little colder.
Graham - Sywell, no probs, spring can't wait.

Struggling a bit at the moment damaged my arm in a semi-final last week, ligaments and soft tissue, and it is still hurting like hell, but still gotta fish!!!

Graham,

You need to walk along the canal toepath right up above Deep Lock!! Its along walk mate,small amount of gear is all you need. If you fancy the walk let me know and i'll tell where to fish. They use to catch them over 3lb + years ago.
Only just started going again on a regual basis. Had a few good days on the Avon back at the start of the year!! Just dont post as much anymore like to keep things quiet now,you know what its like?

Mark - cracking Pike - see you at the spring haunt soon and I fancy a couple of trips to Sywell so will bend your ear about the details

Ian - have tried down in the second field below the bridge up towards somerton crossing and up above the weir in the oppostie direction. The dace were fairly near to the road so probably try there again as likely to be some roach in the vicinity too. You been out fishing much?

I know a few good Roach spots down at somerton on the Cherwell. A Couple of long walks to get to the best spots and they are the best spots because know one can be bothered to walk to them .

Went piking a couple of weeks ago about 10 miles outside of Banbury, the result is attached, scales were in the car, and did not want to keep her out of the water too long.
Well over 20lb, but how much I will never know, unless I can catch her again. My best pike ever!

Another top roach fishing session this evening at Somerton - ended up with 2 chub and 2 dace - ce sera
Big chub - 4 1/2 to 5lb on first cast again

Cheers Mark - may give it a go. I was mainly fishing in the second field downstream from the bridge - some real nice swims down that way and at the botom end of the first downstream field aswell

Wasnt even aware that Somerton was a Roach hotspot, although if I was trying for them, I would walk to the sections above the main weir, lovely roachy water up there Graham. I had a suprise 2lb 3oz roach my first season here (2 years ago) in Cropredy on the Cherwell, I was chubbing, nice suprise!!!

Had a session at Somerton last night - ostensibly Roach Fishing - no-one told the Roach though Did have a 5lb on the nose Chub from the first swim and another about 2.5 lb later on. River was looking spot on for the Chub. Has anyone had any joy at Somerton with Roach - don't want to know locations just that I'm not completely wasting my time.

Was at Shipston on Cherwell Thursday gone, just as the light faded I hit in to a 4lb plus chub. Got it on lobworm, touch ledgering, which was difficult as my fingers were sooooo numb and sore! I was perching, but no perch.

Quite February. Had a few nice chub over January, but nothing big. February been particularly difficult, with a few smaller chub, and a blank on Sunday.

After a great trip to Edinburgh for Hogmany, someone tried to throw a u-turn into the side of the Barbel Mobile whilst I was pootling along one of Edinburgh's main roads.
Gutted, and on New Years Day, not a great start, but it can only get better! All the best everyone!
