Hi Neil - yes, a good rod (and one you feel comfortable with) is worth its weight it gold. I reckon I've found a good rod with the Normark and am keen to
get another to make a pair. The blank is amazingly slim. The BFW rods (Harrison blanks) look good but not at the price - I reckon the Normark's of equal
quality. There are some interesting threads about different rods - but everyone has a favourite though no-one else ever agrees <img...

Hi Sheephead - I've been using an XT on the Goyt and it's fine in all conditions, though a little floppy for some people. The test curve is 1.75lb,
which I reckon is fine for anything you'll catch on the Goyt. I've also just bought a Normark light carp/big barbel rod which is a lot stiffer and has
1.5lb and 2lb tops. Not used it in a flood yet but it's a lovely rod, very slim, light and a bit stiffer than the Hyperloop. The Greys X-Flites always get
a good press but there...
