I do seem to attract the chub; hopefully some barbel too with the warmer weather. Good luck at Bushy and Hampton Court; I used to do ok there in the pre-boilie days on meat (showing my age) and tench on maggot...

The Heron pond used to have a big head of bream and apparently cats...

thanks for the reply will check my e.mail later.
Not long now and i am itching to get on the river, joining bushy park and hampton ct palace this season after the carp so may not catch up as much but sure to bump into you sooner or later..
Been watching the barbel spawning and theres some good lumps about also a lot to around 2lb mark that seem to be doing well.
Hopefully be a good season!!
good luck with your hunt for your wandle barbel and stop catching all...

I had an email last night from the club with a membership renewal form attached, to be printed out, signed and sent back to Tom Main the new club secretary.

I don't know if they will be sending out paper copies to anyone without email access?

I have heard about an outfit that might be able to help (not sure but worth checking out).
I think they call thereselves wandle course angling association but don`t quote me on it.
Not sure if they have a website or anything but the name is a start.
Infact I might check it out myself.
It might be worth contacting the fishing club in morden hall park now that they`ve had a
change of management.

Thanks Mole (and John Whit and Wayne too) - we're doing our best for the river, and find it all works better when everyone's pulling in the same direction. It's not my river or anyone else's - except in the sense that it belongs to all of us, and the only way an urban stream like this can ever hope to survive is when everyone realises it's their responsibility to care for it.

Hello peeps. I wonder if you could give me some advise re: fishing in Morden Hall Park. Last season I was ceremoniously marched out of the park by a couple of policemen (quite rightly too!) as I was fishing with my wife just inside the boundry of the Park. I was unaware at the time that a permit was required to fish this stretch. Keep your head up and your rod down and you will be fine, most people who fish the Wandle know that yourself and others are doing a fine job.

Morden Hall Park and the National Trust: alongside many others who care about the health of the Wandle, I spent a year on the Club's interim committee at the invitation of the National Trust, donating our experience to getting the Club set up in a sustainable way....

This it seems is a cowardly #!@%+ about someone who is only trying to improve the river/enviroment through which it runs!!jealously may be involved!! although both parties mentioned were involved in the interim committe of MHPAC, a new committee has been formed which has neither involved!! It does seem as if you have joined to slate off someone who along with all the others involved in this fledgling club spent many hours getting MHPAC up and running, shame on you!!

Rather cowardly to post insults without revealing who YOU are. The wandle was a natural trout river 200 years ago and the wandle trust, as well as the cleanups which pull out an amazing amount of rubbish: have you bothered to help? are involved in their re-introduction. I've seen no evidence of fishing restrictions imposed on the wandle except Sutton Council who seem to have a no fishing stance.

Fluffything, did you join just to have a go at Theo? All rivers need looking after and if groups are set up to help out then it can only be a good thing. If you are worried that you might have to pay to fish then I am sure the authorities will make space for free stretches along the river. I must admit I had a look at the Piscatorial website, christ it looked like a masons convention or worst still a University Reunion. It put me off joining. I don't think the river will ever be full of...

Just to let you know that the Wandle Piscators will be trying to keep the coarse fishing rivers close season interesting by hosting an evening with well-known writer "Skateboard Dave" Egginton at Morden Hall tomorrow...

Dave will be giving a presentation on tying his specialist flies for targeting barbel, roach, carp, perch and many other species. All welcome, just £5 on the door.

The Morden Hall Park AC AGM has been moved to the 28th April as the National Trust have made some changes to the lease which the comittee want to check out before discussing with the club.

Today i followed the wandle from earlsfield upstream untill it came to two ponds near beddington park a short ride past wilderness island which i went round on my bike, ive heard there is some good fishing around this area but looking at the water its very shallow and quite a mess in places.
where is a good place to fish and what is to be caught in these areas?
