			<description><![CDATA[ Barbel seem to have finished spawning now and have quickly returned to the deeper holes / cover.
<br>
River is running very low and clear so maybe they didn&#39;t want to hang around in the shallows for too long.
<br>
Doesn&#39;t seem to bother the chub though who are noticably bigger this year - the mild winter maybe?

its on my list this year....

You&#39;re right though about numbers of anglers, quite often the lower river is busy on most stretches. I never fish any day ticket lengths of the Swale but

			<description><![CDATA[ Had a short session yesterday at cundal hall farm from 3 till 6. Had 1 knock while on phone to wife, dropped phone but tip didnt move any further. <img src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif" alt="image">  Tried curry flavour meat i had fish on last time, also new grubber pellets and paste but no
fish. River looked around 4 feet up and temp 43f. Went down slightly towards end of session and so did temp. Only had 2 barbel this winter but its been good

			<description><![CDATA[ It is funny Julian . The Ouse does have a curious way of drawing you back despite it&#39;s relative difficulty as a barbel river , it has an air of mystery
about it . The Swale is close to my home and a lovely river with a relatively high population of barbel . The thing that usually puts me off is that it is so
well populated with anglers as well as barbel . Sometimes it&#39;s hard to get a swim , particularly on the lower reaches . I should take a leaf out of your

			<description><![CDATA[ Short session 1-5pm today lower Swale. NSL + 3&#39;+ rose about 4&quot; while I was there and water temp 5°C, well coloured. Lots of debris including the odd
half a tree. Just one chub (again!) - oh well at least I did&#39;nt blank. Nice to see and hear a curlew, skylark and long-tailed tits.
