Personally had to vote for Jim's Dove beauty. It kinda caps what must be a memorable season of huge Barbs for him.....not that its over yet by a long shot.

I must say that the Ouse fish is quite simply a stunning specimen! The best looking Barb I have ever laid eyes on!!

my dove fish was 16-05 not 16-10,the fish i had sept was 16-10,my vote goes 2 the river record fish,good lookin fish and the best in that river,can't do any better than that 4 me,

Have to agree with Mr Martin. I really don't care if the guy was fishing for dace. Even with the information, the catch is more notable if it's deliberate.

That is only relevant if that information is to hand or known by the person voting. Hence why I think most would vote for the size of the fish relevant to...

I don't think people vote for the biggest fish everytime, but what they consider to be the most notable capture. I was particularly impressed that the Great Ouse fish was landed on 5/6 lb line whilst fishing for chub!

Bait Boat - I think what Born Again Fisher is referring to is the part of your first post when you mention the larger Itchen record. Then in the later post, you talk about the Ivel record. Itchen or Ivel? Now, if I had (as I should have) believed the Itchen fish to be the river record - I would have voted for it.

Just to reiterate, the fish in the competition is from the Itchen NOT the Ivel.....

In the Ivel Gallery I'm sure there are picture's of Phil Smiths 13.9, my 14.8 and a 15.10 from the Ivel this year ?
Added to my images a 15.3 caught by Gary Newland from the Ivel last January and monthly Drennen award winner.

The 15.14 was caught earlier this year and was in all the comic's ?

Ouse fish for me as its not from Adams Mill and I know from experience not as easy to come by as many think especially in conditions it was caught in.

Going by the BFW river records list and using a simple excel spreadsheet, I think the calculations would be:

Fish 1 = 98.12%
Fish 2 = 91.39%
Fish 3 = 100%
Fish 4 = 81.54%
Fish 5 = 84.50%
Fish 6 = 89.01%

Bait Bob - I'd be interested to know your source for the Itchen record. The 15-14 fish is not noted on here, or the Barbel Society website (though there are a couple of disparities between the two). Assuming you're correct, I wonder why no one else has mentioned it......

I'm no good at maths but it would be nice to see what percentage of the river record they are.....It would help us understand exactly how impressive a certain fish from a certain river actually is...

It was a toss up between the Itchen (Record) and the Dove (close to record) for me, went for the Dove fish as it is so beautiful and chunky.........
