There so many different animal feeds out there for cows, sheep, pigs etc and I've heard of a couple before being used for fishing like Ewe nuts for example, which you can get for about £5 per 25kg There's quite a lot of these feeds about and I heard that one or two might be harmful to the fish, so which ones are effective and which are to be avoided???

Cheers

anyway thats the challenge isnt it.the other challenge is the 8lb plus chub that inhabit the avon.ill have to wait and see what jewels the avon turns up this season, you just never know in fishing.regards derek.

My Dear Derek, I am neither trying to find a super bait or looking for short cuts, as you imply my good man. I am merely trying to cut down on my bait bills, which I can no longer afford due to personal circumstances. I agree there is no super bait and I am loathed to pay the over inflated prices that some baits retail at, when there are other alternatives. I used to buy hemp seed in jars for £6.99 for 2.5kg, today I bought 20kg of uncooked hemp from a local animal feed supplier for £12,...

Not sure I'd recommend goat feed as suggested at the top of this thread. I've got a couple of goats which relish the Argo goat feed I feed them on but it is very 'heavy' and sweet and I'm not sure how good it would be for the water throwing large amounts in. In any event I tried it in moderation for the normally obliging carp on the canal that runs by my house and it was OK but nothing special.
To be honest the commercial carp style particle feeds are such good value in larger quantities...

Hi All,
Having just dropped off the carp scene I can add my bit here.
If you want a particle type mix then you cannot go wrong with pidgeon feed, it contains pulses and seeds such as maples, corn, maize etc. I used to soak over night in a cool box, one of the big plastic ones, just cover the particles with boiling water and leave overnite and they will be ready for use. You will have to top up the water level as the particle soaks up the water............... you can add flavours at this...
