I've just been reading an extremely interesting article by Mick Wood in Coarse Fisherman about fishing for Barbel during the daytime in which he mentions backleading. Does anyone have any tips or general info on backleading as I'd like to give it a go.

Also, what do use use to thicken your paste? Last year i remember using a ready mixed shortcrust pastry which you just roll out, i can't find the same stuff now, just a powder mix. I know bread is an alternative.
