			<description><![CDATA[ Not often to I get on my soapbox but i feel certain subjects need to be addressed.With barbel fishing becoming the new carp fishing i am worried bout the state of small river barbel for the future.I like a challenge and catching barbel ofcourse,but i don't just fish the same swim all the time but it appears that catching barbel at any cost is now more important than looking after fish for the future.One case i know is on a river that you can jump across is being heavily fished by 3 0r 4... ]]></description>

A spot sample survey is currently underway to establish river &amp; brook lamprey numbers. As part of this Willie Yeomans from the Clyde Foundation sampled an area of the lower Clyde. The spot electro fishing turned up lampreys, minnows and a number of 35/42mm barbel.<br>

This may now be the most northern breeding population we have, how much the summer conditions have had to play in this I could not say however the chub... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ I guess that I would be right in thinking that as you are reading this post that you do not use a keepnet for retaining barbel. If you do you use one I bet it is made out of carp sack material.<br>

You know when a barbel is put into a &quot;normal&quot; keepnet that the spike on it's dorsal fin will get caught and lead to a tear at best, mutilation at worst.<br>

			<description><![CDATA[ Having seen cows do similar things on the Dove ie colouring the water up, I have thought about getting in with my waders and trying to do the same thing. Has anyone tried doing this? Or am I the only one who has considered imitating a cow?<br>
Seriously has anyone else experience of fish responding to the water being coloured up in this way. Can it regularly induce a feeding response or is it a one off?<br>
