You may think im daft and probably quite rightly too ! Is it possible to draw fish down from upstream , say half a mile or so. I was thinking about pre-baiting and gradually working my way down , that sort of idea.
Im allowed to fish someones garden { provided that I double as a gnome } And on the very odd occasion a larger fish is landed here. Im talking 2 doubles in 7 yrs. 1 such double was an 11Ib 4oz landed last month. There are 2 weirs, 1 upstream and 1...

Hi all , I wasnt sure wether to post this on here or on the basics forum. I read with interest the`bait thread`regarding artic anchovy boiles, and the sucess these seemed to be having with regard to catching Boris. I have been given some anchovy { which currently resides in the shed because of the awful smell } and I would like to add it to the john baker paste that I use.
After heavy rain on saturday I phoned the EA Rivercall hotline (at 60p a minute or something) to check the level of the river Wear. It told me that at 6:00am on Sunday morning the river at Stanhope (upper reaches) was at 0.28m and steady and at Chester-le-Street (lower reaches) was at 0.34m and steady. Since this was just about perfect conditions for the lower Wear, with no reason to expect it to rise significantly, and it was also a lovely mild day, I couldn't wait to get to the river.
...
